poles, DC type).

Presentation
Compact NSX100 to 630 DC 3/4 P circuit breakers offer optimum design for
24 to 750 V direct current applications. They use the moulded cases of the
Compact NSX range with:
pp high performance breaking chambers specially designed for direct current
(100 kA/750 V)
pp dedicated fast tripping devices
pp simple, reliable accessories optimised for isolation and parallel or series
mounting of poles.
In fixed or withdrawable versions, they offer installation flexibility with all the
accessories and auxiliaries of the Compact NSX AC range and provide:
pp compliance with most standards and certifications worldwide
pp service breaking capacity Ics = 100 % Icu (according to IEC 60947-2)
pp discrimination of protection devices
pp suitability for isolation with positive break indication
pp numerous indication, measurement and control options.

Applications
With their high-performance design and wide variety of series or parallel
pole arrangements and trip units, Compact NSX DC circuit breakers are
ideally suited for:
pp protection of all DC distribution systems (earthed by one polarity or a mid-
point or isolated from earth)
pp high ratings by parallel mounting of poles for high power systems at
reduced voltages
pp switch-disconnector functions, as per IEC standard 60947-3.
Tripping is carried out by interchangeable thermal-magnetic trip units up to
250 A and fixed magnetic trip units above.
Accessories, common to the Compactrange, offer full flexibility to meet the
specific requirements of any installation.
Suitability for isolation and safety of personnel
All Compact circuit breakers are suitable for isolation as defined in IEC
standard 60947-2. The operating handle cannot indicate the "off" position
unless the contacts are actually open. Fitting a rotary handle or a motor
mechanism does not alter the reliability of the position indication system.
For protection against direct contact with live parts, Compact circuit
breakers may be installed through the front panel of Class 2 switchboards
(as per IEC 60664).

designed to dissipate the heat produced by
relatively short series connections and withstand
extreme operating conditions (isolation and

high pollution levels, etc.).

Installation and connections

Compact NSX DC circuit breakers may be mounted vertically, horizontally
or flat on their back without any derating of characteristics. Withdrawable
type circuit breakers are available in versions with a plug-in base or
withdrawable chassis.
Compact fixed or withdrawable circuit breakers can be connected using
lugs via front or rear connections.
