Introduction
Dear PipelineStudio User
This document is a reference guide which includes detailed instructions on how to acquire an

evaluation copy of PipelineStudio .
The complete process consists of three main components which will allow access of PipelineStudio
3.6.1 simulation software:
Download:
The procedure contains the information needed to access Energy Solutions website and download
installation files.
Install:
The procedure contains the steps needed to facilitate the installation process.
Activate:
This procedure is a two step process: dealing first with completing the request for an authorization
code, and secondly with the installation of the code in order to activate the license.
If, after downloading the files, you need more information please review the following documents
(included with the downloaded setup files) or you may contact the Customer Care Team at

Download
1) Download PipelineStudio 3.6.1 by entering the following link into your internet browser:
http://www.energy-solutions.com/products/pipelinestudio/
Double click on the PipelineStudio Release 3.6.1 link as noted above.
The following page will appear:
The following Download Request page will appear:
2) Complete all parts of the form with an asterisk (*). Be sure to properly input your e-mail address,
Company Name and Bitlock Number to expedite your request.
3) Since this is the procedure to obtain an evaluation copy and you do not posses a bitlock
(hardware key) please input the code provided by the Customer Care Team or Sales
Representative when you arrive at the Bitlock Number field.
4) After completing the form press the ( Send ) button and a new message will appear as follows:
5) Depending on your OS, the link to the PLS software files will appear automatically or you will be
sent a separate email with the download link as follows:
5) Double click on the link above Click here to download
6) You will receive the following message:
7) Double click on the Save button and start downloading PipelineStudio 3.6.1. Create a
directory in your local hard drive to easily identify the location of the file (PipelineStudio3.6.1.zip)
after download. Note: Before downloading the dialog shows the file size = 179,170 KB. Be sure
that the file size after download is: 174 MB.
8) If you have previously received the password to unzip the file, you just need to continue with the
installation process (see instructions for: Install).
9) The PipelineStudio technical support department will review the information provided in the form
submitted and if all the information is correct, you will receive the password via e-mail to unzip the
downloaded files that will allow you to install PipelineStudio 3.6.1.
Install
1) Please be sure to have Administrative rights or privileges otherwise you will not be able to
complete the installation of the software.
2) Search for the downloaded file:
3) Right click on PipelineStudio_3.6.1.0.zip to begin extraction as follows:
4) During the extracting process the dialog Password appears:
5) After entering the password, the extraction process will begin as follows:
Note: If a dialog box does not appear, please refer to your de-archiving tools Help for further
instructions on how to unzip password protected files.
6) Please copy and paste the password received via e-mail to avoid or minimize typing errors.
7) Extract the installation files to your local hard drive preferably in the same location you saved the
zip file:
8) Once the download is complete the following confirmation will appear:
9) In the installation directory search for the file name Launch.exe and double click on it:
10) You will receive the following prompt:
11) The PipelineStudio 3.6.1 installation menu will appear:
12) Select PipelineStudio and start the installation process.
13) Follow the screen prompts of the installation wizard until the process is complete.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Before using the software you will need to request and activate the
evaluation license, please see the next section License Activation for more details.
WARNING: During the evaluation period please DO NOT CHANGE the Date and Time of
your computer, the license will automatically be locked and PipelineStudio will stop working.
Activate
Part I Requesting the License Code:
PipelineStudio has now been installed. However, the activation of a license is required before it can
be used if you do not already posses a preprogrammed hardware key to run the software.
In order to get the license code you will need to follow the procedures outlined below and obtain your
computers locking code or ID. Once you have this information, please send it to the Customer Care
Team via e-mail where they will then process the ID and generate an authorization code for the
predetermined length of time associated with the evaluation.
NOTE: The evaluation license can be used and installed only in the computer associated with
submitted locking code (i.e. the license is computer specific).
1) Make sure you have Administrative rights or privileges.
2) Make sure that you do not have any bit-lock or dongle attached to your PC.
3) Make sure that your e-mail program is enabled and available on the client PC.
4) Locate the application WRCommute.exe located in the following location on a standard

installation:
C:\Download\PipelineStudio_3.6.1.0\networklicensing\Admin.net\Win32 or
C:\Program Files\Energy Solutions\PipelineStudio 3.6.1\PLStudio\Licensing
6) Double click over the file and the locking code will be displayed under the Get Locking
CodeTab in the application window as such:
6) In the dialog box labeled E-mail address insert support@energy-solutions.com and press the
Send button:
Alternatively you can click over the icon Copy to clipboard ( ), Save lock code string to
a file ( ), or Display locking code string ( ) and copy or attach the information in
the e-mail and send to PipelineStudio support (studiosupport@energy-solutions.com).
7) You will receive the PipelineStudio evaluation license code via e-mail.
Part II Installing the License Code:

When you have received the authorization file you will need to introduce it and PipelineStudio will
then be accessible upon recognition of this license code.
1) Locate the application WRCommute.exe located in the following location on a standard

installation:
C:\Download\PipelineStudio_3.6.1.0\networklicensing\Admin.net\Win32 or
C:\Program Files\Energy Solutions\PipelineStudio 3.6.1.0\PLStudio\Licensing
2) Double click over the file WRCommute.exe, the WRCommute dialog appears:

3) Select the Install Remote Authorization Code tab, if you select Remote Authorization you
may copy the code sent by technical support via e-mail in the Enter remote authorization code
box and press the Install button ( ).
Alternately, you may enter this information by selecting Get remote authorization code from
file, if you have already saved the authorization code somewhere on your local hard drive.
4) If the code has been successfully installed upon pressing the Install button you should get the
following message:
5) Press the OK button and exit the WRCommute application by going to File and select Exit.
6) After closing the dialog box the process has been completed and PipelineStudio is ready to use.
