Civil Rights Performance Task

Enduring Understanding: The student will understand that the actions of


individuals, groups, and/or institutions affect society through intended and
unintended consequences.
Standards:
SS5H8 The student will describe the importance of key people, events, and developments between
1950-1975.
b. Explain the key events and people of the Civil Rights movement; include Brown v. Board of Education
(1954), Montgomery Bus Boycott, the March on Washington, Civil Rights Act, Voting Rights Act, and
civil rights activities of Thurgood Marshall, Rosa Parks, and Martin Luther King, Jr.
c. Describe the impact on American society of the assassinations of President John F.
Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King, Jr.

Description: You have traveled back in time to the days of Civil Rights Movement.
You have been given the opportunity to interview one of the influential people you
have studied in this unit.
Task: This is an independent task that will be completed at home. This project will
be due on
Thursday Feb. 11, 2010.
Process:
