WHAS11s KENTUCIANA IDOL LIVE AUDITION CONTEST

OFFICIAL RULES

In connection with the American Idol Bus Tour coming to Louisville August 30 th, WHAS11 will hold
Live auditions at Fourth Street Live! August 5, 2017. One Winner will win the Silver Ticket, which
offers the winner a chance to go directly to the second round of American Idol auditions (city and
date TBD). Four Runner-Up Winners will receive Front of the Line tickets for the 8/30/17 audition.

Eligibility. Subject to the American Idol eligibility requirements that follow, the Contest is open to legal
U.S. residents of the WHAS11 viewing area that includes Jefferson, Shelby, Spencer, Nelson, Bullitt,
Meade, Oldham, Trimble, Henry, Breckenridge, Hardin, Larue, Washington, Marion, Anderson, Franklin,
Owen, Adair, Grayson, Taylor, Green and Carroll counties in Kentucky and Floyd, Clark, Harrison,
Washington, Scott, Jefferson, Perry, Crawford, Orange, Lawrence, Jackson, Jennings, Ripley, Dubois,
Martin, and Switzerland counties in Indiana who were by 15 to 28 years old by June 11 2017. Employees
and contractors of WHAS 11, Fourth Street Live! (together Sponsor), TEGNA Inc., and each of their
respective affiliated companies, and advertising and promotional agencies, and the immediate family
members of, and any persons domiciled with, any such employees or contractors, are not eligible to enter
or to win. American Idol requirements:

a. By June 11, 2017 you must be 15 to 28 years old (which means you must be born on or
between June 12, 1988 and June 11, 2002). If you were born before or after this window, you
are not eligible to participate this season.
b. You must be a legal U.S. resident with the unrestricted right to work in the United States
throughout the entire American Idol competition
c. Participants must live in the WHAS11 viewing area in the counties noted above
d. Participants must be available to attend the American Idol Bus Tour auditions on August 30,
2017 in Louisville, KY.
e. Participants must consent to be featured on news coverage at the live auditions on August 5,
2017, as well as at the American Idol Bus Tour auditions on August 30, 2017.
f. To accept an invitation to participate in the competition portion of American Idol (currently
scheduled to begin in January 2018), you must be able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of
American Idol Producers that you do not have any contractual arrangement that would
prohibit you from fully participating in the show and/or entering into any contracts required by
American Idol, including, but not limited to, an exclusive recording contract, merchandising
contract, a live and/or global touring agreement and an exclusive management contract
(subject to paragraph 4 below).
g. In the event that you already have a management contract prior to your first audition in front
of the American Idol judges, the requirement to enter into a management contract shall not
apply to you provided that you can demonstrate to the satisfaction of American Idol and 19
Entertainment that such contract commenced prior to the date of your first audition in front of
the Program judges. By accepting an invitation to be a participant, you must timely complete
and return such participant agreements, releases and all exhibits, schedules and attachments
thereto that will be furnished to you by American Idol and/or 19 Entertainment.
h. You must not currently be a candidate for public office and must agree not to become a
candidate for public office until one (1) year after the initial exhibition of the final episode of
the Program in which you appear (if selected to participate).
i. As of June 11, 2017 and continuing through the completion of the competition, neither you
nor any of your immediate family members or members of your household (whether related
or not), may be an employee, officer or director of: (a) NEG Operations Inc. and all majority
owned subsidiaries (including, but not limited to, 19 Entertainment Limited, 19 Entertainment,
Inc., 19 Touring LLC, 19 Recordings Limited and 19 TV Limited) (collectively, the 19
Companies); (b) American Idol Productions, Inc. (Producer); (c) American Broadcasting
Companies, Inc. (ABC); (d) FremantleMedia North America, Inc. (FremantleMedia); (e)

Telescope Inc.; (f) any of the foregoing entities respective parents, subsidiaries or affiliated
companies; (g) any person or entity involved in the casting, auditions, development,
production, distribution, or other exploitation of the Program or any variation thereof; (h) any
known, major sponsor of the program; or (i) any person or entity supplying services or prizes
to the Program. The entities described in the preceding sentence shall be referred to herein,
individually and collectively, as the Program Entities.
j. Participants must live in the WHAS11 viewing area
k. You must accurately complete all documents provided by Producer, any of the other Program
Entities or any other entity providing services to the Program.

How to Enter. Eligible entrants should come to the August 5, 2017 Live Auditions at Fourth Street Live!,
Fourth Street Live! 411 S. 4th Street, Louisville, KY.
1. Register between 11:00 am (ET) and 1:00 pm (ET). Registrations on a first come first served
basis.
2. The first 200 participants to register may audition. Upon registration, each participant will get a
number that determines his or her audition order.
3. Live Auditions will be held from 1:00 pm 5:45 pm.
4. Participants must prepare a 60 second acapella vocal rendition of their song of choice to be
performed live in front of a panel of qualified judges selected by WHAS11 and Fourth Street Live!.
Fourth Street Live! will provide a handheld mic, a mic w/mic stand. No back-up instruments will
be provided. Participants may use acoustic guitar in their audition which must be played by the
participant, and not an accompanying instrumentalist.
5. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to register and to
consent to their participation and being videoed for the competition. Participants under the age of
18 who do not have a legal parent or guardian to accompany them will not be allowed to register
6. Those unable to register at the Live Auditions August 5th are encouraged to submit a video to the
WHAS11 Online Contest beginning at 12:00 Noon August 7th and ending at 5:00 pm August 20th

Winner Selection. All eligible Live Audition Contestants must be on the Fourth Street Live! site to be
eligible to win. The panel of judges will be evaluating the entrants throughout the Live Auditions and will
judge all eligible entries according to the following criteria: Quality of voice (25%), Presentation (25%),
Entertainment value (25%), Vocal Style (25%). The Five (5) performers with the highest scores will be
designated the 5 Finalists. The one Finalists with the highest score will be the Grand Prize Winner and
the remaining 4 Finalists will be Runner-Up Winners, respectively. In the event of a tie, tied entries will be
re-judged on the same criteria listed previously. The decisions of judges are final and binding in all
respects. Following the 5:45 pm close of Live Auditions the judges will call five (5) Finalists to the stage.
The 5 finalists will be announced live during the 6 pm WHAS11 newscast that evening August 5th.

Prizes and Odds. The one (1) Finalist with the highest cumulative score will receive an American Idol
Silver Ticket which entitles him or her to skip the Idol Bus Tour audition and go directly to the next level
of audition for Idol in front of the celebrity judges at location yet to be determined by American Idol.
Contest Sponsor will provide roundtrip airfare between Louisville and the TBD city and standard double-
occupancy lodging for the Grand Prize Winner and one (1) guest (ARV: TBD). The 4 Runner-Up Prize
Winners will each receive a Front of the Line Pass for the American Idol Bus Tour Auditions in Louisville
August 30, 2017 (ARV: $0). Transportation is not provided and is the responsibility of each of the
Runner-Up Winners.

Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received and binding decisions of the judges.

Winner Notification and Acceptance. The 5 Finalist Winners will be notified in person following the
close of the Live Auditions on August 5, 2017. Winners may waive their right to receive prizes. Prizes are
nonassignable and nontransferable. No substitutions allowed by winner. Prizes and individual

components of prize packages are subject to availability and Sponsor reserves the right to substitute
prizes of equal or greater value. Winners are solely responsible for reporting and payment of any taxes
on prizes. Winners will be required to complete an affidavit of eligibility/liability and publicity release
which must be returned as instructed by Sponsor. Failure to sign and return the affidavit or release, or to
comply with any term or condition of these Official Rules, may result in a winners disqualification, the
forfeiture of his or her interest in the prize, and the award of the prize to a substitute winner. Except
where prohibited, acceptance of any prize constitutes winners consent to the publication of his or her
name, biographical information and likeness in any media for any commercial or promotional purpose,
without limitation the Internet, or further compensation. Prizes not won and claimed by eligible winners in
accordance with these Official Rules will not be awarded and will remain the property of Sponsor.

Participation. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of
Sponsor. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify persons found tampering with or otherwise abusing any
aspect of this Contest as solely determined by Sponsor. In the event the Sweepstakes is compromised
by a virus, non-authorized human intervention, tampering or other causes beyond the reasonable control
of Sponsor which corrupts or impairs the administration, security, fairness or proper operation of the
Contest, Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Contest.
Should the Contest be terminated prior to the stated expiration date, Sponsor reserves the right to award
prizes based on the entries received before the termination date. . By participating in this Contest, each
entrant agrees to fully release, forever discharge and hold harmless Sponsor and Fourth Street Live from
and against all claims, costs, liabilities, losses, injuries, and damages arising out of the Contest, including,
but not limited to, any claims for personal injury, death or damage to or loss of property or any other harm
arising out of entrants participation in the Contest, the receipt, use, or misuse of any prize, or any travel
or activity that is related to the Contest or any prize.

Construction. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these rules shall not affect the validity
or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any such provision is determined to be invalid or
otherwise unenforceable, these rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or
unenforceable provision was not contained therein.

Copyright. By entering the Contest, each contestant grants to Sponsor an exclusive, royalty-free and
irrevocable right and license to publish, print, edit or otherwise use the contestants submitted entry, in
whole or in part, for any purpose and in any manner or media (including, without limitation, the Internet)
throughout the world in perpetuity, and to license others to do so, all without limitation or further
compensation. Each contestant further agrees that if his/her entry is selected by Sponsor as the winning
entry, he/she will sign any additional license or release that Sponsor may require, and will not publicly
perform or display his or her submission without the express permission of Sponsor.

Sponsor. WHAS11s Kentuckiana Live Audition Contest is sponsored by WHAS11 and Fourth Street
Live! The decisions of Sponsor and the Contest judges regarding the selection of winners and all other
aspects of the Contest shall be final and binding in all respects. Sponsor will not be responsible for
typographical, printing or other inadvertent errors in these Official Rules or in other materials relating to the
Contest. For a list of winners (available after August 28, 2017) or a copy of these Official Rules, send a
