PERSONAL GOALS 2

Short-Term and Long-Term Personal Goals

My personal goals that I would like to achieve professionally will be discussed, including

both short- and long-term goals. Short-term goals will include what I would like to achieve

within the next one-to-two years. Long-term goals will include what I would like to achieve

within four to five years from now. These goals will serve as important foundations on which I

will build my nursing career and make decisions in achieving the vision I have for my future.

Careful self-reflection and planning will be evident in these goals.

Short-Term Goals

Within six months of accepting an RN clinical nurse job, I will earn certifications

applicable to my assigned units patient care.

Within two years of beginning my job as a clinical nurse, I will be assigned students in

their nursing clinical rotations, to serve as a preceptor for the day.

Within two years of starting my job as a clinical nurse, I will begin training for the

Charge nurse position on the unit in which I am employed.

Long-Term Goals

Within three years of graduating with my BSN from USF, I will enroll in an accredited

graduate nursing program.

Within ten years of graduating with my BSN from USF, I will teach nursing students as a

Clinical Instructor for a nursing program.

Within fifteen years of graduating with my BSN from USF, I will achieve my Doctorate

of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree.

Conclusion
PERSONAL GOALS 3

The previously mentioned goals have been carefully selected as the achievements I most

desire to accomplish. In seeking a job on a unit in which I provide patient care I am passionate

about, I envision achieving these goals within the selected time periods. With these personal

goals, I look forward to all I can achieve in my nursing profession.
