TESLA GROUP PESTEL ANALYSIS 2

Reflection is a way of looking at past educational experience. This helps to give a variety

of benefits that range from enhancement of writing skills and keeping a record of information

that can help one to express their thoughts, theories, and new ideas vividly. Reflection is critical

to students since they help them to increase their understanding while analyzing the process of

learning (Bella 2004, p.93). This is important since the student develops in all areas and

advances in gaining creative, innovative, critical, communication, mathematical and logical

skills. PESTLE analysis is a perfect method of looking at the external environment affecting

Tesla Group, and the analysis is better done using a group and a Power point presentation.

I was involved in a group of six people where we used several strategies to complete the

task. All members participated in making a power point presentation, discussing the six factors of

consideration when using PESTEL analysis namely; Political, social-cultural, economic, legal

and environmental factors. The analysis was done in group work using a word document, and

later everyone prepared a PowerPoint presentation as a way of improving on the skill. The

PowerPoint included templates, tables with figures, and graphical presentations of the Pestel

analysis. We used these elements as an easy way of illustrating what was written in the word

document. The choice of doing the task as a group as opposed to an individual aimed at helping

each other understand the manner in which an analysis is carried out and the best way to present

opinions. As a group, it was easy to discuss, share thoughts, theories and ideas which cannot be

easily achieved by a sole individual. PowerPoint presentation saves on time and has a clear flow

of information with limited wordings making it more desirable. The most positive thing about

the experience is the ability to learn from others on the importance of teamwork.

We noticed that with unbiased information and different skills, its easy to make

presentations since everyone has a chance to contribute to the success of the outcome. To ensure

that we dont repeat the same mistakes when carrying out the analysis, it is important to use

different approaches and reduce the amount of time we use on people (Eysenck, 2014 p.489). For

instance, we could rely on literature and internet sources as the primary source of information.

According to Chan, & Choi (2013 p.51), internet research provides extensive access to

participants, covers a wide geographical area and is time and cost saving. The members with

advanced computer in drawing skills aided in drawing graphs, tables, and templates regarding

the company. Constructive discussions followed to enhance a detailed understanding of the task

before the actual presentation. While the experience was very challenging, overall I gained a lot

of skills such as methods of data collection, analysis, and preparation of the data using the power

point, more so the most important points to include. I also learned how to prepare questionnaires

and the questions to ask when conducting structured and unstructured interviews based on the

case study at hand as well as the mistakes to avoid when approaching such a task.

Our final presentation to the panel was spectacular. My strengths in communication skills

and eloquence in the pronunciation of words as well as interpretation of coded information were

evidenced. The PowerPoint had minor flaws like usage of the same color on different factors.

Nevertheless, overall it was excellent. The main challenges included time and agreeing on what

to include since we all had valid points. There was a limit on the number of words we would use

and the computer aided graphics required more attention. Graphical methods should be utilized

to explain the analysis and templates to show the threats and opportunities (Cruickshank 1991,

p.36). Also, the presentation failed to thoroughly address some important points about the

company, such as the threats on the legal factors and how the political factors in different

countries may affect the rate of production for the company. I, however, noted that some of these

drawbacks could have been attributed to the unwillingness of the managers and most of the staff

members to disclose some information regarding the company.

Conclusion

Group analysis is very effective if all the participants are very focused in the success of a

task. Every task requires resources such as time and cost. Reducing the cost and time is based on

the strategies used when carrying out the task. The Pestel analysis of Tesla group was successful

with minimal drawbacks. The task was important in helping me gain some skills that I will use

for the rest of the course.
