Developing a Coaching Vision and Mission Statement

My core values are:

Compassion, kindness, determination, respect, responsibility

My definition of coaching is:

Instructional coaching is a partnership between a coach and a teacher in which the coach
provides feedback and suggestions to improve the teaching practice of the teacher. Coaching
can be described as ongoing professional development, as the teacher will learn to implement
best teaching practices and techniques under the direction of the coach.

I coach teachers because:

it encourages collaboration and increases student achievement.

I know Im an effective coach when

Im learning, teachers are learning, and students are learning as a result of the coaching
process. I also know Im an effective coach when teachers willingly ask for help, even when its
not during an official coaching meeting.

I know I did a good job coaching when by the end of a coaching conversation, my client

has all his/her questions answered and all his/her concerns addressed. I will also know I did a
good job coaching when the teacher seems excited for the next action steps, and we have
collaborated on an action plan that we both agree with.

I hope that as a result of my coaching, this will be true:

Teachers will become more confident and supported in their teaching practices, students will
become more excited and engaged in the learning process, and there will be an attitude of
better to best across the school.
