roadmap 0

This Technical Publication supports 5400 Packet-Optical Platform (5400)

Release 4.2 software and subsequent maintenance releases for Release 4.2.

Release 4.2 Revision A

Release 4.2 introduces the following new hardware:
the five port WaveLogic-3 nano OTN services line module, OSLM-5-
WL3n, PN 134-5560-900
WaveLogic Enhanced-2.0 CFP2-ACO (analog coherent optics) pluggable
optics module, PN 180-1120-900for use with OSLM-5-WL3n

Release 4.2 adds the following software features:

features related to power usage:
OSLM-2-FLEX3-WL3 and OSLM-5-WL3n Power Engineering Rules.
The OSLM-2-WL3 and OSLM-5-WL3n line modules require a power
distribution unit (PDU) with 70A feeds to support a fully filled chassis.
The line modules could be supported in limited quantities or in lower
power modes by a PDU with 60A feeds and specific engineering rules.
This feature provides the ability to monitor the current draw of these
line modules and implement an early low-voltage shutdown in case of
low-voltage, single-feed, high-temperature operation.
Power Limit Mitigation. In order to meet 60A single feed, low voltage
scenarios with the OSLM-5-WL3n line module, the system has the
capability to disable line modules to prevent the surpassing of the fuse
or breaker limits.

Release 4.2 also adds the following software enhancements:

Fault management is enhanced to cover the OSLM-5-WL3n line module
and the new optics introduced in the release.
The MSLM-Flex has been added to the list of supported line module types
on which line timing can be configured. (JM-4822)

For detailed information on the software features and enhancements added in

Release 4.2, see System Description (-100).

ATTENTION
As the active CTM switches from A-CTM to C-CTM, the LED under the Active
label should always correspond to the state of the primary CTM.

PTP bar
The PTP bar displays the following information about the selected PTP
independent of the Smart Filter (Smart Filter on page 1-15) setting:

PTP Name - User defined PTP name

Label - User defined PTP label
Service Type - User configured service type
Rx Power - Actual power received
TTP Probable cause - Displays the probable cause
Refresh icon - Refresh data displayed in the PTP bar.

Equipment tree
The equipment tree is located on the left side panel of the Node Manager
window beneath the status bar. The equipment tree identifies the node
hardware, such as the bay, shelf, and line modules. When an object is
selected on the equipment tree, its corresponding information is displayed in
the list frame.

List frame
The list frame provides summary information about the item selected in the
equipment tree. All list frame elements are read-only. To view detailed
information about an object in the list frame, the user selects the object;
information about that object is displayed in the details frame (to deselect an
item, the user presses CTRL and left-clicks the mouse).

To sort objects in the list frame, the user left clicks the column heading. This
sorts the column in ascending order (indicated by a black up arrow in the
column heading). To sort the column in descending order (indicated by a black
down arrow in the column heading), the user left clicks the column heading
again. To unsort objects, the user right-clicks on the column heading.

Filtering the list frame

In some instances, the list frame provides a Filter button. This button provides
specific criteria that can be used to sort items in the list frame. For example,
on the Go > Protection > Line Level > APS/MSP Groups screen, selecting the
Filter command button displays the Set Filter Conditions dialog box (Figure
1-2). Table 1-5 defines the Set Filter Conditions dialog box attributes.

Solutions to Conditions Identified in Previous Software Releases

To identify the port used by Node Manager, the information concerning
management ports and firewall ports has been updated in the following
documents: Node Manager Fundamentals, 009-3269-195; System
Description (-100); Administration and Security (-301). (R4.2.0; found in
R4.1.0: JM-4623)
In Node Manager, on the Protection APS Groups screen, if the APS group
is not revertive, the Wait To Restore field is greyed out. For a screen
illustration, see chapter 1 of Configuration - Protection Services (-320).
(R4.2.0 as JM-4768; found in R4.0.3: JM-4768)
In the Node Manager login pop-up IPv6 addresses are not displayed as
selectable options. Selection of an IPv6 address would cause the CTM to
assert. (R4.2.0; found in R4.1.0: JM-4767)
In Node Manager, all subnetwork connections (SNC) will be displayable.
To ensure this, naming rules for SNCs have been updated to no longer
allow names that end with a space, or with a space followed by a carriage
return. (R4.2.0; found in R4.0.3; JM-5210)
SNC (subnetwork connection) diag information, when exported to a
spreadsheet, now includes the SNC name. (R4.2.0; found in R4.1.0; JM-
4611)

Known Behaviors
Node Manager inventory screen does not permit sorting from the Alarm
column. (CSDab52693)
Node Manager Alarms and Events Log does not automatically update
recent events. (CSDab52696)
