1.2 Strategic Planning

Candidates facilitate the design, development, implementation, communication, and evaluation
of technology-infused strategic plans. (PSC 1.2/ISTE 1b)
The attached artifact is a strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis for
Collins Hill High School. The assignment required the candidate to examine the school's
technology integration and the plans in place. When completing this assignment I had to
collaborate with the schools LSTC, teachers, and administration to determine what actions
needed to be made to ensure that proper technology integration is being made. The SWOT
analysis focuses on the eight essential conditions that are put forth by the ISTE. I also completed
an ISTE Lead and Transform Diagnostic tool to help gather data to help inform me on what can
be done to improve the school.

This artifact demonstrates my mastery of PSC standard 1.2 by showing my ability to facilitate
the design, development, implementation, communication, and evaluation of technology-infused
strategic plans through the process of a SWOT analysis. The SWOT analysis forms the basis for
all other data to be evaluated from. It provides an opportunity to communicate with others what
change needs to be made. It also provided the avenue to facilitate the creation of a strategic plan
to be designed and developed to improve overall school effectiveness in terms of technology.
During this process I had to use multiple ways of communication to communicate with the
different stakeholders. By doing this I could ensure that their input is considered and used when
creating a strategic plan.

Through this experience I learned that it is important to gather data through multiple avenues
when forming a report like this. By gathering the multiple data points it provides a good basis for
your analysis to share with the stakeholders. I also learned that the SWOT analysis is very
helpful to allow stakeholders to see what the school is doing good and what it needs to improve
on. I learned that my school has plenty of room to improve with technology integration. If I were
to do this experience again I would try to have better communication and gather more input from
the stakeholders. Because this analysis was done in the summer the communication with the
teachers was limited.

This artifact can be used to create a technology integration plan that can be put into place to
help improve the technology use at the school. By increasing and improving the technology use
at the school the student learning will increase. By the student learning increase we will
hopefully have a direct correlation to improvement on local, county, and state assessments. The
effectiveness can be measured through school improvement plan team meetings.
