During receiving inspection in DD TEP workshop was performed visual and

dimensional check of boiler drums produced by BBE Spain. During visual check of inner
surface of main butt welds was detected transverse crack on weld No CW2.

Generally, inner and outer surface of main butt welds were very rough and did not
satisfy criteria for NDT examination in accordance with EN 12952-6. This was reason why
was required grinding of inner and outer surface of circumferential butt welds.

After preparing of welds by grinding whole length of drum welds was examined by magnetic
particle (outer and inner surface) and ultrasonic.

On both drums for project NEWHAVEN (MSN 1333 and 1334) were found linear
defects on inner weld surface (cracks) by magnetic particle method. Also, on both drums
were found planar defects (cracks and fusion defects) by ultrasonic method. Details of NDT
results can be seen in issued NDT reports.

On the basis of detected defects in drums for project NEWHAVEN was issued
requirement for grinding of inner and outer surface of circumferential welds on drum for
project OSLO to prepare surface in accordance with EN 12952-6 and to improve detectability
of transverse defect. During magnetic particle examination were found linear defects on inner
weld surface (cracks) by magnetic particle method. Also, were found planar defects (cracks
and fusion defects) by ultrasonic method. Details of NDT results can be seen in issued NDT
reports.

On the basis of detected defects was performed repair on boiler drum MSN 1333 for
NEWHAVEN and boiler drum for project OSLO. After repair were performed magnetic
particle and ultrasonic examination with satisfactory results. Until now on these drums were
not yet performed postweld heat treatment.

Additional ultrasonic and magnetic examinations were performed also on boiler drums
for project ROOSENDAAL (these boilers had grinded weld surface for all main butt welds).
There was found only one linear defect after heat treatment on longitudinal weld that was
removed by local grinding.

After visual review of weld was spotted a crack in a weld.

Because of their generally unsightly welds we suspected the quality of testing in BPE, that's
why we asked the workshop to prepare and weld testing.

After the tests on each drum (Oslo Newhaven) were found unacceptable mistakes
that had to be removed.

The mistakes were corrected in one drum for Newhaven and the drum to Oslo.

Another drum Newhaven is under repair.

After each repair carried out testing in the range of 100%

Only one drum Rosendal was an error that was corrected by grinding
