To whom it may concern,

My name is Melissa Manning. I am a senior in nursing school and I have a very strong interest in your
Pediatric nursing position. In August 2017, I will graduate with my BSN from the University of South
Florida. I have done my main clinical rotations at St. Anthony's hospital; but I have also done specialty
rotations at St. Joseph's Women's Hospital, St. Joseph's Children's Hospital, Hillsborough County Head
Start, Caminiti Exceptional Center, and Tampa Family Health Center. I completed my 180-hour
preceptorship at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital. With the knowledge I have gained from my rigorous
courses and the experience I have gained from my Fundamentals, Medical-Surgical I, Community
Health, Medical-Surgical II, Pediatrics, Women's Health, and Preceptorship clinicals, I have a
distinguished background with much to offer.

I have a passion for children and I was inspired by the teamwork I witnessed during my Pediatrics
rotations on the Neurology, Medical-Surgical/GI, Medical-Surgical/Neurology, Hematology/Oncology,
Respiratory, PICU, and Pre-op units at St. Josephs Childrens Hospital in the spring of 2017 and during
my preceptorship at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital in the summer of 2017. Both my 60-hour Pediatric
clinical and my 180-hour Pediatric preceptorship assignments at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital further
confirmed my desire to become a Pediatric nurse.

I believe my passion to help children emanated from my experiences as a lifeguard and YMCA
counselor. Lifeguarding opened my eyes to how important health care professionals are to our society.
My training and knowledge enabled me to save the lives of two children, which is what compelled me to
pursue a degree in health care. Helping the children at the YMCA grow in an educational and nurturing
environment made me realize how much I enjoy being around children who depend on me for
encouragement and support. Seeing the affect my knowledge and training has had on children around me
revealed I personally wanted to become a Pediatric nurse. I want to be able to comfort and be a role
model for children. Furthermore, I want to share kindness and compassion to children every day; which
is another reason why I so passionately want this position. The hard work I have accomplished in nursing
school, the knowledge I have gained from my rigorous courses, and the clinical experiences I have
encountered have prepared me for many of the challenges I will face as a nurse. I am excited to begin my
nursing career and I am eager to learn every day. In addition to my nursing skills, I possess qualities that
will help me be a successful nurse. I am a compassionate, patient, and dedicated team player, who is able
to adapt to a changing environment. I possess great communication and assessment skills and I believe I
will be an asset to your team.

I look forward to speaking with you soon. I will be in contact with you in the next couple of weeks if I do
not hear from you. Thank you for your valued time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Melissa Manning
