KCSE Revision Workbook Mathematics Paper 2 121/2

PREFACE
The Workbooks provide plenty of examination level practice questions for the candidates preparing
for all KCSE papers. They aim at enabling the teacher to ensure that the coverage of the syllabi is to the
depth tested by the KCSE examinations. Each title consists of TEN full length papers complete with
marking schemes. The comprehensive nature of the work books makes them ideal in diagnosing
candidates preparedness and providing insights into how the examiners grade KCSE candidates.
The series provide work for learners during the term as well as on completion of the syllabi. Unlike
test papers that come in a printed out format, the digital nature makes them a flexible resource that can be
used both during the teaching term and at during MODEL TEST for the main KCSE examination. Each of
the work books contains ten test papers. Naturally, if the teacher covers 5 ways in class by way of
illustrations and assigns the student the other 5 ways as home work, then they will be ready for any
eventuality in the topic. As the teacher covers the topics using the questions in the work book the learners
get insight into the way the examiners test the concepts in the particular subject. Further, a teacher can use
the full length papers to examine the students for ten consecutive weeks, in second term, before the mocks.
This will remove the fear that students have and help the teacher identify the sections of the syllabus that
require more work before the mocks. Students can use the work books as an aid to independent study. The
learner can access specific questions focusing on areas already covered, attempt them and mark their work
independently. If the candidate finds difficulties in answering the questions contained in this Work Book
then a need exists to revisit the concepts as taught in class or consult the teacher to be able to do the
questions correctly.
Used in either way the Work Book series are bound to eliminate grade D and C from their KCSE
results. First, they help teacher to identify the way in which examiners test concepts in each topic and to
familiarize students with how to interpret the examiners requirements. Second, by they provide plenty of
full length practice papers to ensure that candidates gain the speed required to complete the examinations
before the end of the exam and even revise their work. Third, they can be used by the teacher to cover the
key examination areas in a subject quickly by using a question and answer approach during class sessions.
This ensures the syllabi are covered in good time and to the required level of detail.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The editor is extremely grateful to numerous colleagues at TARGET BOOKS for their unknowing
inspiration of ideas that led to the writing of this series. The editor in chief extends special appreciation to
the KNEC examiners who have reviewed the titles in the series and to the teachers and students who have
critiqued the titles to make them more on target the KCSE examinations. The answers to the previous
questions that have appeared in the KNEC examinations in the work books do not reflect the view of the
council but that of the editorial team at TARGET BOOKS. To all that made it possible to produce the series
the editorial board is most indebted.
