What is the role of the dentist?

Your job is to watch over the health of your mouth, your


teeth and your gums.
It should treat, but also prevent, dental problems (especially
the most common: caries, gingivitis and periodontal
problems).
To perform its work, the dentist has several methods and
techniques in addition to the treatments. Perform oral

of dentomaxillofacial structures, among others. Then,

of different types of forces, orthodontics, will take care to
prevent, diagnose and, if necessary, to correct the existing

teach or supervise the work of dental hygienists and dental
therapists.
You may have patients in whom you have to intervene and
treat dental malocclusions and abnormalities that arise in
the oral cavity.
Dental doctors specializing in orthodontics deal with more
complex cases, such as crooked or drooping teeth, or
corrective appliances.
Some dental practitioners specialize in oral lesions cure and
in maxillofacial surgery to treat serious facial diseases or
diseases of the teeth and gums.
To be a dentist you need the following characteristics:
Possess communication skills: you must be able to ask
questions, and clearly explain the treatment you will apply
to patients.
Have empathy and know how to deal with patients to
make them feel comfortable and relaxed on the stretcher.
Have manual skills.
Ability to use a wide variety of tools and specialized
equipment.
Have patience and attention to detail.
Have endurance and a minimum physical condition, since
work can be exhausting.
Be interested in science and scientific skills.
Dental physicians who have their own consultation need to
show business skills, leadership skills and ability to work as a
team.
