Participated on a Service Challenge 2015 through Thailand, Burma & Laos

Other Fields of Interest

In November/December 2015 I travelled to Thailand, Burma and Laos on a Service Learning
expedition. This trip involved us, the challengers, to plan and organize a two-week journey. In
this trip, I participated in two parts, Project and Adventure.

In the Project part I worked with Thai, Burmese and Lao children. Some of the ways we
contributed to their lives included practical helps, and also games that assist them to learn
English, which is very helpful in furthering their education and getting work.

The Adventure part involved lots of hiking in remote areas, boat travel on the Mekong River
and living out of a backpack for two weeks.

Rustic Pathways is an organization that teaches students about other cultures and life skills.
These expeditions are like no others as the students save much of their own money for the
trip, manage a personal budget, and as a team plan aspects of the itinerary.
