Empowering Youth Journalists with JENESYS 2017

By Reggie Rey Caparas Fajardo

Japan is the country Ive been dreaming visiting since I was a kid. I want to check if I can find
Pokemon there, kidding aside, I am really amazed by this country Japan being a well-known
country for being appreciative and cultured.

Yesterday, as I was browsing my Facebook newsfeed I saw a post from the National Youth
Commission regarding the new batch of Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and
Youths Program (JENESYS2017). Hola! This is what Ive been waiting for!

The batch of JENESYS for Young Journalists.

As a youth who has seen his career path in writing by starting as a campus journalist during my
elementary days and eventually take a mass communication degree in college, I can say that
programs like this would be a great help in looking for a broader perspective in the profession.
Thru this program, we can compare how the two countries deal with its own businesses that can
eventually be used in reporting as journalists.

From an inspiring initiation of Japan to build a strong relationship among countries, I am truly
amazed by how this platform grew after years of unification. Coming into the globalization that
really needs the participation of youths across the different nations, it is agreeable that juveniles
should partake in making a solid foundation that would root into initiatives of the youths.

As I aspire for a post to become a Philippine delegate, I have come to see myself as a piece of
block; an important part, an essential one for totality. With JENESYS, I expect that a lot more
youths will be given the chance to go to Japan and witness the beauty of oneness.

Being an ordinary student is having bigger dreams and plans than himself. As a writer that
conquers the world of books and fictions and as a journalist partnered with informative delivery
of stories, I believe that this programs will not only cater a remarkable imprint onto students, but
also will impact the lives of youths who were given extraordinary talents and skills which make
them unique and standouts on their own. I believe that JENESYS, aside from making a stronger
tie among countries, is fueling every youth to become builders of foundation and a centered heart
for unity and understanding.

Being a youth is being a leader that any society needs. As a consistent leader that gives exemplary
leadership among my fellow leaders and writers, I am fueled and geared up to become a productive
factor for a mutual understanding, ethics, and rationality among Asia-Pacific Region. I promise
that I will become an important piece in building a friendly relationship with the other youths and
with that, I can lead them into a good example of managing and leadership that will show that
being a real leader makes more leaders.

With this leadership also, I am powered to contribute my skills in writing and reporting which I
believe every person should have especially in this era where information dissemination to every
citizen in any community is important.
Moreover, as a young budding writer having specialization in Creative Writing, being accepted to
JENESYS would be a good way to help my college who is visioning of establishing a Center for
Creative Writing Center. I know that thru this program I could have a deeper understanding of the
Japanese literature that I can eventually share to my colleagues. In line with this, I am visioning
that thru this program I can serve as a bridge between my college and the Japanese government.

But of all things, I firmly believe that I can fulfill the aim of this program which is to disseminate
an understanding or may be a deeper understanding of Japans economic, society, history, diverse
culture politics and diplomatic relations.
