1 Overview
This document describes how to install the BS8900A cabinet based on the following
production configuration and installation scenario.

Note: As the product configuration, installation scenario and the delivery


materials are different amongst fields. The document describes only based on the
product below. Any question about the installation specifications, please contact TDD
Product Team for support.

If DCPD6A is needed to match with DCPD7A, it is suggested that the second disconnection terminals of 20A of
DCPD7A indicated as 1 or 2 above, connecting DCPD6A

1.2 Installation Scenario


The BC8910A cabinet and the PC8910A cabinet can be either stacked or installed side
by side. The document take the stacked cabinets as an example to describe the
installation specifications of the equipment modules and cables within the cabinets.

Note:

The height of the concrete base at the bottom of the cabinet must be greater than
200 mm.

3 Installation Precautions
Task Purpose

This document is designed to provide installation specifications for the outsourcing team
before commissioning.

Workflow

1. Cabinet installation (including cabinet base installation, cabinet top installation, and
BC8910A cabinet and PC8910A cabinet stack);

2. External cables installation (including grounding cable, AC power cable, GPS feeder,
RRU power cable, optical cable, ETH cable, monitoring cable and so on );

3. Internal cables installation (including battery power cable, battery heat detecting
cable, water monitoring extension cable, access control cable, fan power cable,
heater power cable and so on);

4. Inspection (including cabinet inspection, cable inspection and so on);

5. Power on & power off .

Instructions

1. Read ZXSDR B8200 TL200 TD-LTE Baseband Unit User Manual and

ZXDU58 B900 DC Power System User Manual before the installation so as to learn the
system structure.

2. Remove watches, hand chains, rings or other conductive objects before the
operation. Wear special gloves for protection.

3. Apply only the tools described in this document.

4. Pay attention to the safety tags or warnings attached to the equipment. Do not cover
the tags and warnings or even remove them off the equipment under any conditions.

5. Never install the equipment in a place where there is a risk of liquid or objects falling
inside the equipment as short circuit may occur and damage the equipment!

6. Do not stack heavy objects on top of the cabinet so as prevent damage to the
equipment!

7. While drilling, operators should take measures to prevent dust from entering
people's respiratory tracks or eyes.

8. Wear safety helmets on site as objects falling from heights might cause severe
physical injuries or even deaths. It is forbidden to stand right under the heavy
objects!

9. The electrical devices should be installed or reconstructed by experienced


electricians as any faults in electrical installation may cause fires, electric shock, or
explosions.

10. People working at heights should be qualified with related certificates. They should
conform to the local laws, regulations, and instruction guides.

11. Never work at heights (e.g. on the tower) in severe weather (e.g. in rains or fogs).

12. When working at or around the transmit antenna, ensure that the antenna is in a
disconnected state or its power is reduced to a safety level.

13. When installing batteries, pay attention that:

(1) The batteries should be of the same type. Old and new batteries must not be
used together;

(2) The battery packs must not be short-circuited in any way during the operation;

(3) Before the cables are connected to the battery, power off the battery to prevent
any possible physical injuries.

14. Insulated tools should be used for electrical connection. Connection terminals and
exposed parts should be fully insulated.

(1) The cross-sectional area of cables should match the load;

(2) When the colors of the power cables indicated in this document differ from
those in the local area, adopt the cables of different colors in that local area.
Remember to use the black heat shrinkable sleeve or insulation tapes for a
black power cable so as to prevent any confusion.

15. When operating with the optical cables, ensure that:

(1) The temperature is above -20 ;

Protective measures are taken for your eyes so as to prevent them from direct sight of the
optical ports.

4 Cabinet Installation

4.1 The BC8910A Cabinet Top Cover Installation


1. Place the top cover on top of the BC8910A cabinet.

2. Fix the top cover using the hexagon spanner and four M12 inner hexagon bolts with
steel washers.

4.2 The GPS Antenna Installation on the Cabinet Top


(optional)
The GPS antenna can be installed on anyone of the four corners of the cabinet top.

1. Remove the four M12 inner hexagon bolts on the cabinet top, align the eyebolt with
the installation holes of the GPS installation accessories and the cabinet top, and
screw the eyebolts to fasten the GPS installation accessories on the cabinet top.

2. Use the fixture clamping the GPS antenna.

Note: For better procedure, the GPS feeder should be connected to the GPS
antenna and be sealed with waterproof tapes before the GPS antenna is clamped with
the fixture.

3. Fasten the fixture on the GPS installation accessories with two bolts.

4.3 The PC8910A Cabinet Base Installation


1. Place the base at the place according to the design, and then determine the four
drilling holes for the four expansion bolts;

2. Use a 12 bit to drill four holes, each of which is 16 mm in diameter and 80 mm in


depth. Use the vacuum cleaner to clear the dust;

3. Put the M12 bolt into the expansion tube, and then place the flat washer, spring
washer, and nut onto the bolt in order. Use the nail hammer to set the bolt into the
hole, and then tighten the nut clockwise. Leave a clearance of 30 mm between the
tightened nut and the ground, and then remove the nut, spring washer, and flat
washer off the bolt.

4. Put the insulating spacer onto the bolt, and then place the base into the bolt.
Place the insulating flange, flat washer, and spring washer onto the bolt in order,
and then tighten the nut. Finally, use a multimeter to test whether the base is
insulated from the ground.

5. Fix the front cabinet door using the cabinet door support. Disassemble the
baseboard of the PC8910A cabinet to expose the four bolt holes.

6. Use four M12 inner hexagon bolts with rubber washers and the matched spanner to
fasten the PC8910A cabinet to the base.

7. Assemble the baseboard of the PC8910A cabinet in the end.

4.4 The BC8910A Cabinet and the PC8910A Cabinet


Stack
1. Remove two rectangular cabling trough covers and two round cable hole covers at the
top of the PC8910A cabinet.

(1) Use the Philips screwdriver to remove one screw of the rectangular cover plate,
and then you can remove the cover plate.

(2) Use the Philips screwdriver to remove four screws on the round cable hole cover
plates inside the PC8910A cabinet, and then you can remove the cover plate.

2. Stack the BC8910A cabinet onto the PC8910A cabinet, and then align the BC8910A
cabinet with the PC8910A cabinet.

Use the delivered inner hexagon spanner and four M12 bolts with rubber spacers to fix
the BC8910A cabinet and the PC8910A cabinet through the quadrangular bolt holes at
the bottom of the BC8910A cabinet.

Note:

1. If there is a heater in the BC8910A cabinet, before assembling the four M12 bolts to
stack the BC8910A cabinet up the PC8910A cabinet, disassemble the screws of the
heater and pulled out the heater. Meanwhile, the power cable of the heater should
not be disassembled.

2. before assembling the four M12 bolts to stack the BC8910A cabinet up the
PC8910A cabinet, disassemble the two dummy panels.

4.5 Batteries Installation


Insert the batteries one by one into the battery compartment inside the PC8910A cabinet
according to the "Battery Clearance Requirements".

When only four batteries are installed, place them at the bottom of the compartment.

5 Cable Connection Preparation

5.1 Disassembling Preparation

5.1.1 Disassembling Cable Hole of The Base

1. Use the double offset ring spanner at the bottom of the base to loosen the screw of
the screen at the side of the base where the cable hole is located.

2. Push open the screen.

3. Loosen the six screws of the front screen in the base and then remove the screen.

Note: The dust screen and the baffle should be installed after all of the installation
and connection: Put the dust screen in the trough in the front of the base; and then
fasten the baffle of the base with six screws.

5.1.2 Disassembling Waterproofing Plug of The BC8910A Cabinet

Remove the rubber waterproofing plug.

5.1.3 Disassembling Cable Hole Cover on Top of The PC8910A

1. Use the Philips screwdriver to remove the four screws off the rectangular cable hole
cover plate inside the BC8910A cabinet, and then you can remove the cover plate.

2. Insert the cylinder-shaped cabling through into the position where the cover plate is
removed within the PC8910A cabinet, and insert the cylinder-shaped rubber
waterproofing plug into the cabling through.

Pay attention that the cylinder-shaped cabling assembly and the rubber waterproofing plug

5.1.4 Disassembling Cable Guiding Rails on Two Sides of The PC8910A


Cabinet

Remove the rectangular cable guiding rails on the left and right sides of the PC8910A
cabinet.

5.2 Connecting the Cable Through the


Waterproofing Module
1. Estimate the cable lengths required after the cables are led into the cabinet through
the cable holes in the waterproofing module, and leave an extra clearance of 20 cm.

2. Select the proper cable holes (as described in sections 6.1 and 6.2) according to the
cable diameters. Then, insert the cables into the rubber waterproofing plugs..

3. Bind the cables along the cable through inside the cabinet, and adjust the cable
length inside the cabinet.

4. Insert the rubber waterproofing plugs into the original cable holes.

6.1.1 Connecting the Grounding Cable of the Cabinet

1. Determine the proper length of the grounding cable according to the distance
between the grounding point of the PC8910A cabinet and the grounding busbar of
the BC8910A cabinet;

2. Connect on end of the grounding cable to the general grounding busbar of the
BC8910A cabinet, and lead the cable through the cylinder-shaped cabling through
on the right of the PC8910A cabinet. Connect the other end of the cable to the
grounding point of the PC8910A cabinet and fix it;

3. Lead another grounding cable through the left-sided waterproofing module on


bottom of the BC8910A cabinet, connecting one end of the cable to the general

Note: As to the specific cabling hole on the waterproofing module, please


refer to fig 6-1 Cabling Combination for Waterproofing Module within PC8910A
Cabinet.

Remove the rust from the surface of the copper grounding busbar before connection.
Apply antirust paint around the grounding bolt on the busbar and attach a label onto
the ground cable.

6.1.2 Connecting the AC Input Power Cable

Note:

Do not reverse the live wires and neutral wires.

Make sure that the AC input power is cut off during the operation to connect the AC input
cables.

BC8910A cabinet.

6.1.3 Connecting the GPS Feeder

1. Lead one end of the GPS feeder into the cabinet from its left-sided cable hole, and
join the cable to the N-type connector for the GPS surge protector fastened on the
left side of the cabinet. Then, tighten the joint clockwise using a spanner whose
torque ranges from 1.7 Nm to 2.0 Nm.

2. Connect the other end of the GPS feeder to the outdoor GPS antenna port and then
perform waterproofing and sealing for it.

Note: The GPS feeder should be connected to the GPS antenna before the GPS
antenna is installed.

Knowledge:

The GPS jumper should be connected to the REF port on the CC board.

6.2.2 Connecting the Optical Cable

6.2.2.1 Connecting to the Microwave Equipment

Note: Connect the ends of the ETH cable to ETH01 on CC board! If the
optical fiber is used, please refer to 4.3.2.2 for the fiber operation specifications.

6.2.2.2 Connecting to RRU

1. On the BBU side, remove the white dust cap off the end of the optical cable.

Ensure that the blue lever on the BBU optical module face in a same direction with
the blue clip of the optical cable connector.

Press the blue lock tab and then align the optical cable connector with the port on
the optical module on the BBU before you insert the lock tab into the optical module. If
you want to unplug the optical cable connector, also press the blue lock tab and use care
to pull the connector out.

2. Attach labels to the tail of the optical fibers so as to identify different sectors.

The bending radius of the optical cable should be 20 times the length of its diameter.
In most cases, greater than 40 mm is recommended.

At the BBU side, the optical fibers inside the cabinet should be protected using coil
tubes.

Note:

Connect the ends of the optical fibers of sectors 1, 2 and 3 to TX0 RX0, TX1 RX1, and
TX2 RX2 ports on the BPL board in the BBU. Connect the other ends of the optical fibers
to the OPT1 ports of the corresponding RRU.

The cable holes without cable in the waterproofing module should be sealed with the
waterproofing rubber!

7.1.1 Connecting Power Cables for Batteries

1. To remove the cover plate over the battery switch, use a screwdriver to remove two
screws for fixing the plate cover on top of the PC8910A cabinet.

2. Lead the black cable and the red cable through the left-sided cylinder-shaped cable
hole.

(1) As shown in the figure below, connect the A1 end of the black cable to the BATT
input (-48 V) terminal on the left side of the B900 power supply in the BC8910A
cabinet; connect the A2 end to the battery switch terminal on top of the PC8910A
cabinet BAT-.

(2) As shown in figure below, connect the B1 end of the red cable to the "+"3
terminal on the left side of the B900 power supply in the BC8910A cabinet;
connect the B2 end to the battery switch terminal BAT+ on top of the PC8910A
cabinet.

3. Lead one end of another black cable to the black cable terminal (low potential), that
is, C1 or E1 as indicated in the figure below; lead one end of another red cable to
the red cable terminal (high potential), that is, D1 or F1 as also indicated in the figure
below.

Note: In step 3, the ends of the black and red cables at the switch side were
already connected to the battery switch before delivery.

Warning:If only batch batteries (four pieces) are required, the left cable terminals
(e.g. C1 and D1) need to be wrapped with insulation tape.

4. Connect the cell terminals in series using metal clips.

5. Install the cover with the two screws when the battery cables are installed.

7.1.2 Connecting the Heat Detecting Cable for the Battery

1. Connect one end of the heat detecting cable to the socket printed with FAN/BATT on
the B900 power supply within the BC8910A.

2. Attach the heat detector (after the label is ripped off the detector) to the side of the
battery at the center. The connection of the heat detecting cable for the battery is

7.2.1 Connecting the Water Sensing Expansion Cable


1. Disconnect the cable (bundled at the side of the BC8910A) labeled with WATER from
the water detector.

2. Join the water sensing extension cable (delivered part) to the water sensing cable
labeled with WATER and the detector.

3. Tighten the water detector clockwise in the PC8910A cabinet, as shown in the figure
below.

7.2.2 Connecting the Access Control Cable of PC8910A Cabinet

1. Lead the access control cable (bundled at the side of the BC8910A cabinet) into the
PC8910A cabinet.

Note: One end of the access control cable has been connected to port printed
with TEC/DOOR on FCE of the BC8910A at factory.

2. Connect the access control cable to the cable terminal of the PC8910A cabinet so as
to finish the connection of the access control cable.

Note: One end of the access control cable is composed of two sub-cables. One
of the two sub-cables on the left is the dry contact cable as indicated below, and the
other on the right as indicated below is the cable terminal of connecting the access
control cable.

7.2.3 Connecting the Power Cable for the Fan of PC8910A Cabinet

1. Lead the power cable for the fan of PC8910A cabinet, bundled at the side of the
BC8910A cabinet, through the right-sided cylinder-shaped cabling through into the
PC8910A cabinet.

2. Connect the other end of the fan power cable to the cable terminal of the PC8910A
cabinet. The connection of the power cable for the fan is finished.

7.2.4 Connecting the Heater Power Cable of PC8910A Cabinet (optional)

1. Connect on end of the power cable for the heater to port indicated by L and N on
the left of B900 power within the BC8910A cabinet, live wire to L and null wire to N,
shown as the figure below.

2. Connect the other ends of the fan power cable to the heater socket within the
PC8910A cabinet. The connection of the power cable for the heater is finished.
