Exposure to Media:

Then and Now

 Exposure to media is unavoidable since I was born
during Information Age. Our technology is rapidly increasing and
being modernized. That makes the work easier since then, and
look at our situation right now. Especially with todays
generation, we are exposed to high technology which I can say
has a huge difference from before. It affected my growth and it
also helped in molding me to who I became as of today.
 Let us travel back to the day that I was born
which media or technology is already involved up until
this current day that I am in. Let us see the changes on
the aspects of technology and how it affected me.
 1999 - 2001

December of year 1999 came and I was born.

Even when I was still in the womb of my mother, I was
already exposed to technology through the use of ultrasound machine
and when I was born, the invention of hospital machines and usage of
hospital tools was used to me for good purposes. It helped my mother to
deliver me safely here on this wonderful world and watched my health
from then and even until now.
 2002

On the age of 3, I was exposed to toy cars since I

usually have guy friends rather than girls but I still play kitchen
set. Also, dad is fond of listening to radio every morning while
my grandmother is fond of watching TV at night. At my young
age, I was easily entertained especially with funny segments on
TV and funny sound effects on radio.
 Also, I was fond of having stuff toys and I gave
them life in my imaginations. I imagine it was my
mother, my sisters, and whoever I want it to be and be
sensitive to the toys feelings as if its real.
 2003-2005

At the age of 4-6, I started entering school as a kinder

student. I have never finished a school year as a kinder since me
and my family kept on relocating. Between the years, I was
exposed to books with entertaining stories and educational
purpose in it. Also, I was exposed to using phone since my
moms away from me. She was working abroad and phone calls
helped us to be in touch.
 Also on the year of 2005, we permanently moved in
Cavite. I was starting to have girl friends which also lead me
to begging for my mom to buy me a doll house. I used to have
tantrums all day until she finally decided to buy me one.
 2006 - 2007
Age 7-8, Mom enrolled me straight to grade 1 since Ive been a
kinder for 3 years. I was enrolled in Mahonri Academy and Science
High School. I remembered on summer class, they asked me to read
their visual aid to check if I can go straight to grade one and when I
did, Ive read it straight which shocked my mom and sisters.
 2008 - 2009

Year 2008 to 2009, I was transferred to Paliparan

Elementary School. Though I separated ways from my friends back
in Mahonri, I remain to have one- my little sister. Also, I was
exposed to using computers to play games on Y8 and FRIV.
 I was exposed to friendster. Its somehow
similar to facebook but old-fashioned. I remembered
my sisters created me an account which has a theme
of the cartoon Dora, The Explorer.
 2010 - 2011

I was exposed to facebook. Also in that time, I started

becoming a fan of One Direction. Me and my sisters are also
becoming a huge fan of groufie, though we love taking pictures
before, our interest to take pictures developed. We used to conduct
our own photoshoot as well.
 2012 - 2013

2012, my older sister introduced Wattpad to me. Its

an application/website which contains stories, like an online
library that is modernized. Also, I started doing a simple journal
which contains no specific theme. It was somehow my past time
whenever I am in the mood to draw or write.
 At this stage, I was also enrolled back in
Mahonri in which I was exposed to modeling and
joining academic competitions. For example, Mar
Dunong, Essay Writing, and etc.
 2014-2015

During this stage, technology is rapidly evolving

and my addiction to it worsen. Especially when I have my
phone and internet with me, but my love for books remain.
 At this stage, I was also exposed to tumblr. Its a website which
you can blog about anything. I decided to post my OOTDs which I do
often until now.
 2016
This is the time where I am fully into the modernized world. I
spent almost more than 8 hours on my phone, used it first thing in the
morning and the last thing at night. My addiction is worse and it was
slowly affecting my priorities.
I was into photography for my instagram account and tumblr. I
also received my first apple gadget. I spent my night watching bloggers
too, fangirling on bands or if I am not doing those, I am reading books.
2017 The present time, I am fond of
using social medias. I met new friends and be
able to meet them personally. I also watch
youtube videos, may it be choreography or
blog/make up videos. I also tweet about my
own thoughts, just to be able to express
myself. Also, my knowledge about anything
expands day by day.
 In general, since the day that I was born I was
introduced and exposed to media and technology. Even in just
one click of the camera, or one interaction to any inventions. It
was part of my life since day one.
As I grow, it is rapidly evolving which affects my life in
both positive and negative. On the brighter side, it helps me to
make my works easier especially academic duties. It also allow
me to connect to people even if they are miles away from me.
However, Im slowly diverting and losing my social life
personally. I am losing my focus on my priorities and
somehow loses the bond between my and my family as well,
even friends. But as long as you know your limitation or be
literate enough, media will be very helpful to our daily life.
