Your instructor will be your trainer, supervisor or manager who is

covered in your training.

consider when you are completing the activities and important that

order to improve your speed, memory, and self confidence.
When you are ready, ask your trainer to observe you in performing the

After finishing the activity ask for the written feedback on your
progress. Your trainer keeps feedback/pre-assessment report, when
you have successfully completed each element, asks your trainer to
mark on the reports that are ready for assessment.
When you feel confident that you have had sufficient practice, ask
your trainer to evaluate you. The results of your assessment will be
recorded in your Progress Chart and Accomplishment Chart.
You need to complete this module before you can perform to the next
module, Setup Computer Network.

After reading this Information Sheet YOU MUST be able to:
1. Atx Tower
It includes the following parts: Motherboard, Microprocessor, Memory
Chips, Buses, Ports, Expansion Slots and Cards.
2. CPU
CPU (Central Processing Unit) - The processor is the main brain or
heart of a computer system. It performs all of the instructions and
calculations that are needed and manages the flow of information
through a computer.

3. Atx Motherboard
Mother board/ Main Board/ System Board The main circuit board of a
computer. It contains all the circuits and components to run the
computer.
4. Ram/ Memory
(Random Access Memory) RAM is volatile, meaning it holds data only
when the power is on. When the power is off, RAM's contents are lost.

6. Cooling/Fans use to cool the system and prevent over heating.
8. Speakers
Speakers - Used to play sound. They may be built into the system unit or
connected with cables. Speakers allow you to listen to music and hear
sound effects from your computer
9. Screen/Lcd
LCD Monitors Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) technology has been used
in laptops for some time. It has recently been made commercially
available as monitors for desktop PCs.

CONFIGURATION OF THE BASIC-INPUT_OUTPUT-SYSTEM.
Learning Objective:
After reading this Information Sheet, YOU MUST be able to:
1. Learn about configuration of the basic- input- output- system.
After you assemble computer hardware it is a must to test it. Thats why
you should also have the knowledge on how to configure it. When doing this
configuration be very careful, read and understand the displayed text before
attempting to change the Setup. When done configuring make sure to Save
Changes and Exit your computer. The BIOS will then restart your computer
so that the new settings you configured will take effect
CONFIGURING BIOS
The following are the CMOs Set up for custom settings you are going to
change or configure.
To enter the CMOs Setup, you must press a certain keyor combination of
keys, during the initial startup sequence. Most systems use Esc, Del,
F1, F2, Ctrl-Esc or Ctrl-Alt-Esc to enter setup. This usually a line f
text at the bottom of the display that tells you Press_______ to Enter Setup.
Once you have entered Setup, you will see a set of text screen with a
number of options. Some of these are standard, while others vary according
to the BIOS manufacturer.
System Time/Date ---- Set the system for time and date.
Boot Sequence ------ The order that BIOS will try to load the operating
systems.
Plug and Play ----- A standard for auto detecting connected devices,
should be set to Yes if your computer and operating system both
support it.
Mouse/Keyboard ----- Enable the Keyboard, Auto-Detect Mouse

Drive Configuration ---- Configure hard drives, CD-ROM and floppy
disks.
