An inmate inside the maximum security compound of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP)
was killed in a stabbing incident Monday afternoon.

The inmate, initially identified only with his surname Ventura, was from the NBPs
Dorm 7 Building of the maximum security compound, according to a source.

Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Chief Benjamin delos Santos confirmed the incident.
BuCor officials said Ventura suffered stab wounds.

We have an ongoing investigation, Delos Santos said in a text message on Tuesday

but refused to give other details until the result of the investigation has been released.

He added that the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) also joined the investigation
into the incident.

The NBI will be conducting its own investigation to dig deeper into the crime inside the
