A.I. in Architecture

In recent times scientist and engineers are working in the field of "Artificial

Intelligence" or A.I. where algorithms are created to make machines learn from their

context, adapt to it and respond accordingly. Although it is still in experimental stage,

still the expectations from this technology are quite high in terms of reaching human

intelligence.

A.I. is already quite present and is used very often by architects for their projects, be

that using something as boring as a calculator or as fun as BIM software. But still the

machines are a mere tool and one cannot expect it to take decisions on our behalf.

So, the questions I'll look forward to in my study are as follows:

Can A.I. in architecture possibly exist and affect the profession of Architecture

in upcoming future? If yes then how and if no then why?

Can the machines be made to learn behaviour of humans towards spaces

around them which is often very complex and case dependent, and take

judicious decisions keeping users in mind.

In a scenario where A.I. in architecture becomes a common thing, how would

architects respond to that? What would be the role of architect in that case?

Representation techniques in architecture

For someone practising architecture viz. a professional or a student, having a big

idea of a working space isn't enough in itself. Expressing and communicating idea to

turn it into reality is what is required to make it complete. Even though we've seen a

great diversity and change in architecture around the world, there seem to be a

globally traditional means of communication in forms of drawings of Plans, Sections

and Elevations along with a scaled down physical model sometimes. Although, in

present era we've stepped into modes of digital communication, 3D visualisation but

even then they're majorly add-ons to classical drawings of P,S & E.

So, the questions I'll look forward to in my study are as follows:

Can we achieve a singular means of architectural communication for a lay-

man, fellow professional or a client?

Can modern visualisation techniques like walkthroughs, VR, holograms etc.

ever replace the classical drawings?

In what ways the representation methods deceive the users and can the gap

of communication between client and designer ever fill?

What can be possibly the means of representation of future?
