I endeavor to create a school in which both students and staff look forward to learning every day. This
happens by making What is best for kids? my core principle. Living that motto means supporting and celebrating
excellent staff and building a strong learning community.

LEADERSHIP STRENGTHS

position on my administrative team Dr. Fitzpatrick

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES
Teaching:
I was always impressed with Nicks ability to relate with some of our most challenging students

Vision & Direction:
he demonstrated professionalism, calmness, articulateness, and a great capacity to understand
all the issues and the impact for both the teachers and the Board of Education. Dr. Fitzpatrick
District Personnel Committee Participant:
o Oversee district handbook and related items with board members and superintendent.
District Safety Committee:
o Analyze and implement district-wide safety measures and policies. Member of the Emergency Response Team.
District Educator Effectiveness Pilot Team:
o Piloted the Danielson model, collaboratively rolled it out to all district staff and served as a resource to staff members.
Fort Atkinson Education Association (FEA):
o Vice-President (3 yrs.), Building Representative (7 yrs.), Grievance Chair (3 yrs.) Negotiator (1 yr.)
o Work closely with administration, union officials and teachers in difficult situations to very good effect.
Technology Committee:
o Develop short and long-term goals and plans for integrating technology into everyday classroom instruction.

Committee Chair:
o Worked with the union and the district to revise and restructure the compensation model.
Graduation Requirements Committee, and GPA & Honors Committee:
o Acquired and evaluated data to help determine changes to district graduation requirements and policies.
Community:
students, staff, and administrators are drawn to him because he is honest, calm, and rational in

Gay Straight Alliance:
o Provide students a safe place to talk and be supported; organized Days of Silence with hundreds of participants.
Relay for Life:
o Lead a Science Club team that raised money for cancer research.
Super Science Gag Show (Community science shows and food drive):
o Produce a video and live science stage show for the students and the community.
Special Olympics-Project Unify and Polar Plunge:
o Raise $1000+ for Special Olympics and connect Special Olympians and high school athletes and students.
School Referendum Advocate:
o As a community member, helped at a call center and walked door-to-door to help pass referendums.

Business/School Relationships:
o Regularly collaborate with NASCO to build a strong mutually beneficial relationship and sponsorships.
Culture of Learning:
Long before technology integrators and academic coaches came on the scene, Nick took the
initiative to help faculty members who struggled with technology. Dr. Fitzpatrick

o Developing and implementing RtI and PBIS Tier I systems.

Science Week:
o Organized TED Talk-like seminars for students and the community.
Curriculum and Grading Work:
o Developed standards-based assessment, implemented vertical alignment of 6-12 science curriculum, analyzed and
modified Agriculture and Technology Education science equivalencies.
Management:
Nick understands people. He listens, he processes, and then he makes decisions that in my
opinion are not only sound but creative in finding viable solutions. Dr. Fitzpatrick
District Chemical Hygiene Officer:
o Responsible for creating systems for every building, teacher, custodial and maintenance staff member in the district,
training and overseeing the processes, and chairing the Chemical Hygiene Committee.
Scheduling:
o Analyze and assist in developing master schedules for Summer School, High School, and science.
o Member of team working on changing the High School to a block schedule, and Problem Solving Committee chair
Interim Principal:
o Handle principal duties as needed at the High School, Purdy Elementary and Barrie Elementary.
Time in Class Committee Co-Chair:
o Researched class time to change schedule structures.
