Implementation starts with the preparing the organization, project processes and technology
components for project launch. Key stakeholders & decision makers are identified and
confirmed. Project structure and processes are defined and formalized, and hardware is
procured.
To accelerate the project, SAP proposes the development environment during project preparation. Also,
identifying required changes to existing planning characteristics and planning levels where possible
upfront.
During business blueprint, gaps between the standard design and the business requirements
are identified and changes to the model are evaluated and proposed as enhancements. Both
risk to the design and impact to the timelines are evaluated to determine if the changes can be included
in the scope or included as part of a follow-on project. The resulting business blueprint forms the
solution design, including the data model and the business processes.
Realization
The primary objective of this phase is to make real the tailored design from the business
blueprint phase. The primary deliverable is a company specific solution to meet the key
business objectives. Adherence to the scope set in Business blueprint is important to achieve
a successful go-live.
In realization, the design is finalized, tested and migrated through the system landscape. This
phase will conclude with the decision to go live on a production environment.
Data realignment efforts can be complex and should be pulled forward early in the project to prepare
the data for initial loads.
Final preparation
The objective of this phase focuses is to prepare the business and systems for go-live and to
set up the structure to monitor the solution. After successful integration testing, users are formally
trained and the configuration is migrated to the production environment. The system is readied for
productive use and stress testing is executed. This tested system is not yet live.
