EXPERIMENT #1

Title:
VISUAL PERCEPTION BASED ON WEBERS LAW
Objective:
To find out if the Webers Law applies to judgement of size
Apparatus:
At least four (4) instruments will be used to secure data for the experiment. These
are the following: pen, ruler, pencil and one (1) piece of paper containing 30 lines having 2,
4 and 6 inches each.
Procedure:
We will work the assumed midpoint of 2, 4 and 6 inches lines with all the center of
thirty (30) lines have been subjectively estimated.
Sample:

After answering, we will mark the actual midpoint. We will measure the
difference between the actual and assumed midpoint using a ruler (mm).We will mark
minus (-) sign if the error is before the actual midpoint, positive (+) if it is after the actual
length and (0) if it is the actual midpoint.
Results:
This table below had shown thedifferences between the assumed and actual midpoint among the 2, 4 and 6 lines

Number 2 inches 4 inches 6 inches

1 0.1 mm 0 mm 0.2 mm
2 0.1 mm 0.2 mm 0 mm
3 0.1 mm 0.2 mm - 0.1 mm
4 -0.1 mm 0.3 mm 0.1 mm
5 -0.1 mm 0.4 mm 0.1 mm
6 0.1 mm 0.4 mm 0 mm
7 -0.1 mm 0. 2 mm 0.1 mm
8 0.1 mm -0.1 mm 0.6 mm
9 0.1 mm 0.4 mm 0.1 mm
10 0.1 mm 0.4 mm 0.1 mm
MEAN 1 0.7 mm 2.5 mm 1.3 mm
MEAN2 0.4 mm 2.4 mm 1.2 mm

Discussion:
In the judgement of size, according to Webers law which difference should appear
to be greater? Support your answer.
ANSWER:
The results from the experiment support Webers law on judgement size. 6 inch line
has greater mean error than 2 inch line. 2inch line has lesser mean error than 4 inch line.
Based on the results I concluded that there is relationship between Webers law and visual
perception of the subject.
