Government constitutes a committee to prepare the nal draft of National Education Policy

ThecommitteeforpreparationoffinaldraftofNationalEducationPolicyhasbeenconstitutedunderthe
Chairmanship of eminent Scientist Padma Vibhushan Dr K. Kasturirangan. The other members of the
committeeare:
Dr.VasudhaKamataprominentacademicianfromthefieldofeducationtechnologywhohascontributed
extensivelytowardsschooleducation.ShewasalsoViceChancellorofSNDTUniversityMumbai
ShriK.J.Alphonseholdsadministrativeexperienceofpracticalchallengesinimplementationofschool
education reforms. He was instrumental in achieving 100 % literacy rate in Kottayam and Ernakulam
districtsofKerala.
Dr.ManjulBhargava a Professor of Mathematics in Princeton University USA. He was awarded field
medalinmathematicsataquiteyoungageforhiscontributionstoGaussnumbertheory.
DrRamShankarKureel,VicechancellorofBabaSahebAmbedkarUniversityofSocialSciencesMhau,
MadhyaPradeshhaspublishedvariousnationalandinternationalpapersoninclusionofthemarginalized
inmainstreameducationanddevelopment.
Dr.T.V.KattimaniisViceChancellorofTribalUniversity,Amarkantak.Heisfromthefieldoflanguage
educationandmasscommunication.
ShriKrishnaMohanTripathyhasvastexperienceofimplementationofSarvaShikshaAbhiyanandwas
alsoChairpersonofUttarPradeshHighSchoolandIntermediateExaminationBoard.
Dr. Mazhar Asif is a Professor of Persian in Guwahati University. Under his research mentorship first
PersianAssameseEnglishdictionarywascompiled.
Dr. M.K.Shridhar is a former Member Secretary of Karnataka Innovation Council and Karnataka
KnowledgeCommission.ADivyangscholarheismemberofCABEalso.

Thecouncilwillstartitsworkfromimmediateeffect.Inanexhaustivedemocraticexercisecarriedforlast
30monthstheHRDministryhasreceivedthousandsofsuggestionsfrom,educationists,teachers,experts,
students and other stakeholders from across the country. Consultations were held at Tehsil, district and
state level. Regional conferences were organized where state governments have given their detailed
opinion.RajyaSabhadebatedtheissuesandaspecialeducationdialoguewasorganizedinwhich48MPs
fromallpartiesparticipated.ManyMPshavegiventheirviewsinwriting.OnMyGovplatform26,000
people gave their views online. TSR Subramaniam committee has given its detailed input. All these
suggestionsandinputswillbeconsideredbythecommittee.
