All rehearsals will start in the high school band room.
Band Camp Information

New Members
There are a few extra days just for first-year members of marching band. Ms.
Stevens and the band leadership will teach you all the fundamentals of marching so
you are ready for the full band camp. You MUST attend these days if you are a new
member!
8th Grade Members
You must attend the New Member days on the schedule. You will also attend
morning rehearsals during the school year on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. You
will attend band at KMS during 1st hour, unless otherwise instructed by Ms. Stevens
and Ms. Scrudders
Leadership
You must attend a few extra leadership days to prepare you for helping our new
members and for leading during band camp.
You must also attend the New Member days to help our new members
Drumline
ALL DRUMLINE MEMBERS must attend during New Member days. We will rehearse
for auditions and audition for instruments on these days. Come with an idea of what
you want to play but understand that all final placements will be decided by Ms.
Stevens, based on auditions, experience and available instruments.
ALL Members
Attend full band camp and the Connie Mack Parade at the end of the week.

Attendance

ALL REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES ARE MANDATORY. Rehearsals are


during band camp, Tuesday and Thursday mornings, starting at 7am, and during 1st
hour (class time). BAND CAMP IS MANDATORY.
You must be PRESENT and ON TIME to ALL rehearsals and performances. Failure to
do so could mean removal from the show or the band.
Excused absences apply to emergencies, pre-planned family events and school
conflicts ONLY and must be documented IN WRITING and given to Ms. Stevens.
Failure to do so will impact students place in performances and trips. Excuses are
NOT VALID without a written excuse!
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ATHLETICS AND ACTIVITIES: If you are on an athletic
team or another school activity, Ms. Stevens will work with you and your coaches to
decide what to do when there are schedule conflicts. If you have conflicts, please talk
to Ms. Stevens are your coaches AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so we can find a solution!
YOU are responsible to sticking to the agreement we make with your
coach/sponsor.
Consequences for missing rehearsals/performances can include but not limited to:
Removal from performances
Removal from trips
Grade reduction
Removal from band
We are a TEAM and we can not work together if we are not all there! EVERYONES
ATTENDANCE IS IMPORTANT! If you are not in rehearsal, you are not prepared and will not
perform with the band.

What to bring to band camp

Your instrument
o Percussion, sousaphones for tuba players, mellophones for French horn
players and baritones for euphonium players will be provided
o Dont forget your reeds, valve oil, slide cream, etc.
Flip folder for music
o Available for sale from Ms. Stevens (depending on availability) or from
Katzin Music in Durango, CO
o Prices: $7 for most instruments, $10 for flutes, $0.25 for additional pages
Lyre to hold music
o Available for sale from Ms. Stevens (depending on availability) or from
Katzin Music in Durango, CO
o Prices: Varies by instrument, check pricing list in the band room
Packed Lunch (you may not leave campus to get lunch!)

Tentative Performance Schedule

An updated schedule will be provided at band camp. No events will be scheduled without
notice! All members are excepted to attend scheduled performances!
