7.6.1.4.5.3 Replacing an Air Filter of the CX600-X3

Context

To ensure proper heat dissipation and ventilation for the system, and to prevent the accumulation of dust
on the air filter, you need to clean the air filter regularly. It is recommended that an air filter be cleaned
once at least every three months and be replaced once every year. When an air filter is placed in the
dusty environment such as an equipment room, the air filter should be cleaned more frequently.

NOTE:
The method to replace the air filter of the CX600-X3 chassis that is configured with DC power supply
module is similar to that of the chassis which is configured with AC power supply module. Take the air
filter of the chassis that is configured with DC power supply module as an example.

Tool

Before replacing an air filter, you need the following tools:

ESD-preventive wrist strap or ESD-preventive glove

Cross screwdriver

Procedure

1. Check the location of the air filter to be replaced.

Before pulling out an air filter that is to be replaced, you should first check the location of the air
filter, for example, the cabinet and chassis where the air filter resides. Then, locate the air filter to
be replaced in the chassis and attach a label to the panel to identify the air filter.
 2. Wear the ESD-preventive wrist strap and connect the grounding terminal to the ESD jack on the
rack.

3. Remove the air filter from the air intake frame.

a. The air filter is located behind the device. Loosen the captive screws on the panel, as (1)
shown in Figure 1.
b. Hold the panel of the air filter and slowly pull the air filter out until it leaves the chassis, as (2)
shown in Figure 1.

4. Install the clean and dry air filter of the air intake frame.

a. Insert the clean and dry air filter into the chassis, as (1) shown in Figure 2.
b. Secure the captive screws on the panel of the air filter, as (2) shown in Figure 2.

Follow-up Procedure

After replacing an air filter, collect the tools. Handle an air filter that is replaced according to the
compliance and safety standards.
