Hard and Soft Reservation -

Step Action
1. Create a new Item Item-001 using the item master application
Go To > Inventory > Item Master
Item = Item-001

2. Change status of this item to Active while keeping the checkbox

of Roll New Status to Organizations and Inventory selected

3. Click Select Action > Add item to Storeroom

Select Site = Bedford and Storeroom = Central

Unit Cost = 5
Default Bin = B-1
Current Balance = 5
5. Click OK and Save the record

6. Now, open the work order application and create a new workorder
to perform this scenario

7. Save the work order and go to PLANS tab

Storeroom = Central
Reservation Type = Soft
Quantity = 8

8. Save the work order and approve.

9. Click on detail menu and check the View Item Availability

10. It shows reservation details Currently 5 quantities are in

balance and requirement is for 8 quantities

11. Navigate to the Inventory application

12. Click on Reorder Items as shown below

13. Click on Preview, you would observe that this reorder process
did not consider the shortage of 3 quantities.
14. Click Cancel and return back to the work order

15. Un-approve [Waiting for Approval] the work order and change the
reservation type as Hard in place of Soft for the same quantity =
8

16. Save the work order and approve

17. Navigate to Inventory application and run Reorder Click on
Preview and observe the details as below -

18. Since this time, It was Hard Reservation system is ready to

generate PR/PO for the quantity in short.
19. Click Cancel.

20. Now to perform the next scenario Set the lead time = 5 before
returning from Inventory application to Workorder application.

21. Save the record and return back to workorder application.

22. Now again, change the status of work order to Waiting for
Approval
23. Change the Reservation Type = AUTOMATIC and required
date as of atleast after a week.

24. Save the record and Approve the workorder.

25. Navigate to Inventory application and click on reorder Just
run the Preview

26. You would see that system did not consider this shortage of ITEM
in to reorder consideration. Do you know why???/
27. Cancel it and go back to work order

28. Change status back to Waiting for approval and change the
Required Date = just 2 days from todays.
{In previous step, you had set up the date as of after a week}
Keep the reservation type same as Automatic
29. Navigate to Inventory application and run the Reorder
Preview
You would observe that system is now considering the quantity in
short into reorder consideration. Do you know why?

This is exactly the same behaviors as of Hard Reservation
