WHEREAS it is expedient to exrend certain enactmentsof the Bengal

Legislative Council to Enslern Bengal, and to exrend certain enact-
ments of the Eastern Bengnl and Assam Legislative Council to
Western Bengal ; -

ANDWHEREAS it i s also expedient Ihat cenain formal amendments

should be made in enactments in force in Bcngal ;
AND WHEREAS i t ISalso expedient thar certain enactments in force
in Bengal should be repenled ;

55 and 56 AND WHEREAS the previous sanction of the Govemor-General has

passing of this Act ;
It is hereby enacted as follows :-
1. This Act may be called the Bengal Laws Acl, 1914.
2. In this Act,-
(I) "Eastern Bengal" means the territory mentioned in Part I of
V I I OF Schedule A to the Bengal, Bihar and Orissa and Assam Laws Act,
1912.
