Dear Candidate,

Sub: Interview call for MS/Direct Ph.D/ Ph.D Admission Reg.

With reference to your application for admission to MS/ Direct Ph.D/Ph.D programme at
this Institute, you are requested to report for WRITTEN TEST and INTERVIEW at 09:30
AM on 04.07.2017 (Tuesday) in CRC 101 in the Class Room Complex. You must attend the
written test and interview without which it is not possible to consider your candidature.

Kindly bring printed copy of application mailed to you after your on-line registration and
all your original certificates, mark sheets/grade cards of your qualifying degree
examination, GATE score card / UGC / CSIR and other fellowship award letter (as the case
may be) for verification. You have to bring copies of all the above certificates also without
fail.

Only candidates called for interview for Ph.D. under HTRA are eligible for reimbursement of
second class single to & fro rail fare from their place of residence to Chennai by the shortest
route on submission of their claim in the prescribed format with all relevant particulars
(Train No., Coach No. Ticket No. Fare paid, Date of Journey, Station from and to etc.). A
candidate is entitled for a single TA as above even as he / she may attend interview in more
than one department in the same trip.
To enable us to process your TA claims please have the following details with you along with
your travel documents (ticket details)1. Name as appears in bank account

5. Branch IFSC code The TA will be directly credited to your bank account. Please also bring
a copy of the first page of your passbook to attach along with the claim form

The written exam is for a duration of one and half hours and consists of only multiple choice
or fill in the blank type questions. 80% of the questions will cover all the subject areas
of metallurgical engineering and materials science equally and the remaining 20%
cover general engineering, mathematics, and sciences. Following the written exam, the list
of candidates shortlisted for interviews will be posted on the department notice board by 6
PM. You should come prepared to stay until 06.07.2017 evening.

The students called for MS/PhD interviews are instructed to directly apply
throughhosteldine.iitm.ac.in/iitmhostel for accommodation. Requests coming through this
portal will only be entertained. They should also upload the call letter for verification. The
room allotment will be made on first-come-first basis subject to availability. The candidates
will be intimated of the allotment by email that they provide in the online request form.
