DISCRETE-TIME

PROCEDURE A: NO.1

PROCEDURE A: NO.3-A
FIGURE GENERATED:

n = -5 ; 20
PROCEDURE A: NO.3-B
FIGURE GENERATED:

PROCEDURE A: NO.3
EXPLANATION:

The values of the variable n is changing then it changes the x and y axis of the graph. The generating
Discrete time signal is still.

OBSERVATIONS:

1. The exponential signal was generated from the command.

2.The graph will be incline while the time increases the amplitude increases at the same time.

PROCEDURE B: NO.7
FIGURE GENERATED:
PROCEDURE B: NO.2
EXPLANATION:

By changing the value of the variable L, the range of the x axis was affected and the x axis in graph was
extended.

PROCEDURE B: NO.3
EXPLANATION:

By changing the value of the thickness, it changes the thickness of the lines in the graph. The y axis moves
to the left most part of the graph when removing the command a.y_location=Middle .

PROCEDURE B: NO.4
EXPLANATION:

The graph changes dramatically the plot2d3 uses vertical bars while the plot uses set of 2d curves by changing the
command plot2d3 to plot. The graph above shows the curve as a blue line on the unit step signal
representation.

PROCEDURE B: NO.6
EXPLANATION:

Changes the y axis, from the middle it starts at the origin of the graph by changing the command
a.y_location=middle to a.y_loacation=origin, and the syntax mtlb_axis ( xx yy), the first two values just
describe the range of the x axis and the second values are for the y axis.

PROCEDURE D: NO.2
EXPLANATION:

Changes the range of the x-axis, still generated a ramp signal by changing the value of the variable L.

ANSWERS TO THE REPORT
1.) Make a program of a unit step discrete-time signal with an advanced of 3 and 5 samples
respectively. Use a separate paper for your explanation and to show the result.

The unit is delayed by three samples from 0 to negative 3 and delayed again by 5 samples
from the origin to 5. The values are binary in which it only has the on state which is represented by the
vertical lines with constant values, and the off state represented by zero, much like a switch.

2.) Compare the graph of a unit step and a unit simple signal. In what application does a unit step
signal and a unit sample signal used?
Based on the graphs, unit step signals have multiple lines and has one line per value of n
while unit sample has only one vertical line in the whole graph and zero on the rest. The unit sample while
unit sample signals represent gating operations while the unit step signal is used to describe sudden changes
in current or voltage in a circuit , where something is turned on then switched off again, practical
realizations of this will have fast, but not instantaneous rising and falling edges.
