For RFC2544 testing, SmartClass tester can be configured in loopback mode at NodeB

side to set up a testing scenario with QT600 in MTX. This guide shows the way to

configure the SmartClass tester for Layer 3/Layer 2 RFC2544 testing at NodeB side.

1 Smart class test layer 3 loopback testing

For configuring Layer3 loopback testing, normally most of the setting can use the default

values, but for tagging setting and IP setting, users need to configure the actual VLAN

ID and IP addresses on the NodeB side.

1.1 Power on SmartClass tester and select Electrical IP

1.2 Select L3 Loopback Mode

1.3 Select configuration

1.4 Select Link Settings, and configure the link setting as picture below:

1.5 Back to upper menu, select Ethernet settings and configure the
Ethernet settings as picture below:

1.6 Back to upper menu, select Tagging settings and configure the Tagging
mode as VLAN, VLANID as NodeB VLAN ID, user priority as 0.

1.7 Back to upper menu, select IP settings and configure the ARP Mode as
Enable, Dest Addr as QT IP, Source Addr as NodeB IP, Subnet Mask
as required subnet mask, Default Gateway IP as gateway IP.

1.8 Back to upper menu, select Ethernet Filter and configure Ethernet
Filter as below:

1.9 Back to upper menu, select IP Filter and configure IP Filter as below:

1.10 Back to upper menu, select Timed Test and configure Timed Test as
below:

1.11 Back to Electrical L3 Loopback menu, and select 3. Action to start the
loopback.

1.12 After start testing, the testing results can be viewed in Result->Link
Count Page. If the both Transmitted Frames amount and Received
Frames show throughput, it means the testing is succeed to run.
Otherwise, there may be some problems in this test.

2 Smart class test layer 2 loopback testing

Layer2 Loopback is similar to layer3 but dont need to configure the IP settings. The

configurations are same on the link setting, filter and timed test parts. Basically, users

only need to configure the Ethernet setting and Tagging setting.

2.1 Select L2 Loopback Mode

2.3 Select Ethernet settings and configure the Ethernet settings as picture
below:

2.4 Select Tagging settings and configure the Tagging mode as VLAN,
VLANID as NodeB VLAN ID, user priority as 0.

2.5 Back to Electrical L2 Loopback menu, and select 3. Action to start the
loopback.
