Knights of the Divine Hammer

The Knights of the Divine Hammer, were a knighthood created by the Kingpriest, Beldinas the Lightbringer, in 39
PC. The young warrior Cathan MarSevin received a vision which he believed was from Paladine, in which he saw a
troop of knights under a divine hammer which would strike out all the evil in the world. Cathan passed on this ideal
to Beldinas who saw it as a sign from Paladine.

The noble lord Tavarre of Luciel was appointed as the Grand Marshal, and Cathan was made his second-in-
command. The basic hierarchy of the knighthood was simple. The Grand Marshal was the head of the knighthood,
and he received his orders directly from the Kingpriest. Senior officers reported to the Grand Marshal, and then the
rank and file to the officers.

With the heightened mistrust and hatred towards non-humans, the aims of the knighthood warped and became more
maligned as time continued. Tavarre was struck down during an assassination attempt upon the Kingpriest, and
Cathan was handed the reins of power within the knighthood. This did not last long however, since Cathan soon
grew aware of the evils that the Kingpriest was bringing about in the name of Paladine. Soon Cathan cast off the title
of Grand Marshal willingly, however it had already been given over to the warrior Olin, since Cathan had been
presumed dead in the events following the destruction of the Tower of Losarcum. Cathan returned from the battle,
much to everyone's surprise and openly cast down his sword in front of the Kingpriest, before vanishing from his
sight.

The knighthood declined and slowly faded away, becoming little more than a local militia in the few years before
the Cataclysm. Once the Cataclysm struck, the last vestiges of the knighthood were wiped from the face of Krynn.
