Arepas are one of my favorite foods and my now kids also love arepas, which makes me very happy
because I feel that I am passing down some of my Venezuelan (1) __________ and (2) __________ to my
children. The arepa is one the most popular (3) __________ in Venezuela. Theyre served in almost every
home and are the equivalent of tortillas in Mexico and bread in Italy. There are different versions of arepas
throughout Venezuela, every (4) __________ having its own variation.

Arepas are very versatile and can be eaten for breakfast, lunch or dinner. They can be served as
appetizers, snacks or side dishes but they can also easily make a full and satisfying (5) __________.

But What is an arepa? Arepas are cornmeal patties that are eaten in place of bread. At breakfast, they
can be served hot from the oven with some butter, or filled with cheese, ham or perico (Venezuelan
scrambled eggs). During the day, they make the perfect snack and are sold in fast-food stands called
areperas, with (6) __________ like cheese, black beans, chicken and avocado, or shredded beef.
