1) A. Experimentally find Euler load (Pcri) for the given pinned-pinned column (aluminum
strip) using South Well plots method.
Minimum 5 trail readings are required.
Note:
(i) Theoretical verification must be given using the same column setup.
(ii) Vernier Caliper should be used for your geometrical measurements.
B. Define NDT and explain the procedure to carry out Magnetic Particle Testing method.
2) A. Experimentally find deflection of the cantilever beam (steel metallic strip). Compare
experimentally observed deflection with solution obtained from strength of material.
Minimum 5 trail readings are required.
Note:
(i) Fix your dial gauge at mid length of the beam.
(ii) Vernier Caliper should be used for your geometrical measurements.

5) Experimentally find the deflection of the simply supported beam (mild steel strip) for the
following loading condition: Two equal transverse loads must be acting at locations L/4
and L/2 from the left end knife edge support. Compare experimentally observed
deflection with solution obtained from strength of material.

(i) Use principle of superposition for your strength of material solution.
(ii) Vernier Caliper should be used for your geometrical measurements.
