The educator should point out the

The educator should make sure that the

Implications for change project
Robert will have to think about something
that it's challenging for him, this is the
negotiation part of the project, which can be
difficult for him. After our talk, he also
explained that working in an noisy
environment can be challenging for him, so
we could think about strategies to deal with
the noise.
Furthermore, this chapter makes me think
about how I will have to talk with Robert,
which kind of questions will I have to ask

The first part of the article gives a definition

of social competence. The authors
definition of social competence is: to be
liked by peers, and be able to interact with
them as well as give them directives, based
on what they liked and do no like.

The authors gave several theories about it

based on social competence being the idea Retrieved from:

other peoples feelings.

According the theories, children's

1
understanding of emotions is related to goal
attainement, the situations where they are
and their popularity.
The ability to be able to determinate
emotions is a cognitive process. We do not
measure the emotions but instead work with
paradigms where children have to answer
questions about their emotions and people's
emotions.

Nothing proves that there is a relationship

in between the ability of descriminating an
emotion and the social skill. However,
Casey explains that positive feedback helps
children at understanding people's emotions.
The third part explains that children are able
to regulate their emotions.The emotion
regulation can be related to the social status
and if the child is rejected or not. Also,
social competent children are more able to
manage their feelings.

The last part of the article is "Displays

roles".
This is defined as masking a facial
expression to hide a feeling. The children
that use display role have better
relationships with their peers, understand
people's feelings more and have good social
skills.

My project will focus on socialization

among peers and negociation. Thus, this
article has been very useful because it has
helped me at understanding children's
emotions.
In my implementation change, I will try to
help Robert at being more well-liked by his
peers. This can be done by asking children
to write on a paper two things that they like
about Robert. The fact that emotional
functioning and social
competences are linked mean that I will
have to control Robert to managing his
feelings. As well, I may teach him display

Firstly, the author says that "leadership"
