Supplies
Worsted Weight Yarn
Size H crochet hook
Tapestry Needle
One or Two Buttons
Abbreviations
Ch: chain
St: stitch
Sl: slip
Sc: single crochet
Dc: double crochet
Hdc: half double crochet
Hdc2tog: work the next two stitches together as one (decrease)
Gauge: approximately 2.75 sts/inch & 2 rows/inch. Please check our gauge to
insure accurate finished sizes. J
Sizes: waist and length: Newborn (approximately 14 across waist and 11

long), 3 to 6 Months (approximately 16 across waist and 12 long), 6 to 12
Months (approximately 17.5 across waist and 14 long), 12 to 18 Months
(approximately 19 across waist and 15 long). (PLEASE NOTE: baby sizes can
range greatly with age. The ages and sizes listed are guidelines.)
Diaper Cover
Newborn
Ch 39.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch, and in each ch across. Ch 2, turn. (38 sts)
Row 2: Dc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (38 sts)
Row 3: Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (38 sts)
Row 4: Sl st in next 9 sts, ch 1, hdc in same st, hdc in next 21 sts. Leave remaining
sts unworked. Ch 1, turn. (22 sts)
Row 5: Hdc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (22 sts)
Row 6: Hdc2tog, hdc in the next 18 sts, hdc2tog. Ch 1, turn. (20 sts)
Row 13: Hdc2tog, hdc in the next 10sts, hdc2tog. Ch 1, turn. (12 sts)
Row 15-20: Hdc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (10 sts)
Row 21: Hdc in each st across. Ch 1, do not fasten off. (10 sts)
Continue to work around the piece by working sc sts around entire diaper
cover, putting 2 sc in corners. Join to beg stitch.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Ch 2.
Round 1: 5dc in 2nd ch from hook. Join to first dc. (5 sts)
Rounds 2-5: Ch 2. Dc in each st around. Join. (5 sts)

Fasten off.
Make a tassel by cutting 5-10 pieces of yarn that are approximately 6 inches
long (or twice the length of however long youd like them to be). Fold the
pieces in half, and pull the folded end through one end of the tail piece. Now
pull the loose ends through the folded end, and pull tight.
Secure tail to back of diaper cover.
Finishing All Sizes

Find a button, or two buttons, that are small enough to fit through the stitches of
the band on the diaper cover, but large enough that it wont pop out very
easily.
Using matching or coordinating yarn, sew the button to the waist band very
securely. You may also use two buttons, one on each side of the band, instead
of one button in the center.
Stitch Guide
Single Crochet (sc): *Insert hook in stitch, yarn over and pull up loop, yarn over
and draw through both loops on hook; repeat from *.
Half Double Crochet (hdc): Yarn over, insert hook in stitch, yarn over and pull up
loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over and draw through all loops on hook; repeat
from *.
Half Double Crochet Decrease (hdc2tog): [Yarn over, insert hook in next stitch,
yarn over and pull up loop] 2 times, yarn over and draw through all loops on
hook.
