Abstract
The purpose of the paper was to respond criticism of western/ non-Muslim
critics and reflect the real picture of Darul Aloom Deoband. Keeping in view the
current situations, the system of Darul Aloom Deouband and the other institutions
established under its influence can be studied under two aspects. Firstly, this system
was the nursery for mujahidins and secondly, it was the training center for terrorists.
Moreover the Ulema, educated from here, were considered so extremist/fanatic that
they were unable to compete with the modern challenges of the world. The paper
objectively helps in understanding the establishment of Darul Aloom Deouband which
had specific background, objectives, syllabus, teaching methodology and system of
examination. It has been observed that it had no political motives and produced good
Ulema, muftis, journalists, doctors, authors and preachers. Furthermore, the degree
holders of Darul Aloom Deouband served the public religious needs from its inception
till today.
