DOMIN. Juego que se hace con 28 fichas

rectangulares, generalmete blancas por la
cara y negras por el envs, con aquella
dividida en dos cuadrados, cada uno de los
cuales lleva marcados de uno a seis pun-
tos, o no lleva ninguno. Conjunto de fichas
que se emplean en este juego.
 DOMINS

Estos ejercicios consisten en la sucesin de una serie de fichas de domin colocadas en base a un
orden lgico. Deber descifrar las reglas aplicadas para la construccin de cada serie y, conforme a
ellas, el valor de la ficha que completa la serie.
Las respuestas propuestas, as como la solucin final, vienen dadas como fracciones, entendiendo
el numerador y el denominador como el nmero de puntos de cada mitad de la ficha. As, por ejem-
plo, la fraccin 2/0 corresponder a la ficha dos-blanca.

 NAIPES

NAIPE. Cada una de las cartulinas rectngu-

lares, de aproximadamente un decmetro de
alto y seis de ancho, estn cubiertas de un
dibujo uniforme por una cara y llevan pinta-
dos en la otra cierto nmero de objetos, de
uno a nueve en la baraja espaola, y de uno
a diez en la francesa, o una de las tres figu-
ras correspondientes a cada uno de los cua-
tro palos de la baraja.
 NAIPES
Estos tests estn formados por series de naipes siguiendo un orden lgico. Su realizacin consiste
en descubrir cul es la carta que est oculta. Recuerde que la baraja francesa est compuesta por cua-
tro palos (corazones, diamantes, trboles y picas), cada palo, a su vez, tiene 13 cartas: A (as), 2, 3, 4,
5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K.

"LA HORMIGA ROJA"

La hormiga roja vive en los bosques, en grandes hormigueros formados por broza, pajitas y pie-
dras. Y con muchas cmaras en su interior. Se renen 100.000 a 300.000 habitantes, la mayora son
obreras.

En verano miles de hormigas recogen su alimento caminando siempre por senderos propios.
Las hormigas rojas viven al da y no hacen provisiones de alimento para el invierno. Al llegar el
invierno su actividad se paraliza y caen en el sueo invernal como los dems insectos.

Su alimentacin es variada; chupan el nctar de las flores o el jugo de las frutas bien maduras,
chupan tambin con fruicin el lquido azucarado que arrojan los pulgones de las plantas; recogen
larvas, insectos muertos, etc., a los que mastican e insalivan, chupando despus el jugo que resulta.

En primavera les salen las alas a las hembras y a los machos y realizan el viaje nupcial. Despus
los machos mueren y las hembras pierden sus alas y forman nuevos hormigueros, o son capturadas
por las obreras y llevadas a un hormiguero ya formado, donde viven diez o doce aos prisioneras
poniendo huevos.

 Las reinas, en nmero de 3 a 50, permanecen inmviles en sus cmaras poniendo un huevo
cada dos o tres minutos. Las obreras los transportan a las cmaras de incubacin, donde salen las
larvas, pequeos gusanitos inmviles. Despus de varias mudas, se encierran en un capullo toman-
do forma de granos de arroz. Las mismas obreras les rompen la piel para que salgan las jvenes
hormigas. De los huevos fecundados salen hembras; de los no fecundados, machos.

FATIGA. Agitacin duradera, cansancio,
trabajo intenso y prolongado. Molestia
ocasionada por un esfuerzo ms o
menos prolongado o por otras causas y
que se manifiesta en la respiracin fre-
cuente o difcil. Molestia, penalidad,
sufrimiento.
 RESISTENCIA A LA FATIGA

Los siguientes ejercicios ofrecen una variedad de cifras o letras distribuidas en dos columnas. El
resultado se obtiene comparando el nmero de errores cometidos en dos intervalos de tiempo igua-
les. Si el nmero de errores es similar en los dos intervalos, su resistencia a la fatiga es buena. Si en
el segundo intervalo de tiempo se cometen 10 o ms errores que en el primer intervalo, la resistencia
a la fatiga es baja.

El tiempo para realizar los ejercicios es de 10 minutos, dividido en dos intervalos de 5

minutos cada uno. Transcurridos los primeros 5 minutos , subrayar la ltima cifra o grupo de
letras realizada y seguir con el ejercicio 5 minutos ms.

ATENCIN. Accin de atender. Se usa

tambin para que se aplique especial
cuidado a lo que se va a decir o hacer.
 ATENCIN

Los siguientes ejercicios estn diseados para evaluar la capacidad de atencin que usted posee y
recuerde las instrucciones generales para el cumplimiento de la prueba. Cada ejercicio posee sus
propias instrucciones y su tiempo de aplicacin.

Cuadros de letras

En los siguientes cuadrados hay 16 letras o nmeros distribuidos en 4 filas y 4 columnas,

slo en una fila o en una columna hay una letra o nmero repetido; su misin consiste en
encontrar la letra o el nmero repetido y cuando la encuentre tachar con una raya la fila o la
columna donde se repiten. Las lneas diagonales no cuentan. (Se trabaja mejor y ms rpido si
se observa todo el cuadrado globalmente en vez de hacerlo por filas o por columnas).

Then you have tea for breakfast, then you have tea at eleven oclock in the morning,
then after lunch, then you have tea for tea, then after supper, and again at eleven

You must not refuse tea under the following circunstances: if it is hot, if it is cold, if
you are tired, if anybody thinks that you migh be tired, if you are nervous, if you are

You definitely must not follow my example. I sleep at five oclock in the morning, I

Down at the bottom of Loch Ness, things were very calm.
The Monster scratched here ear with the third leg on the
right and decided that it was time to do something.
She didnt usually go up to the surface during the day because
the light hurt her eyes, but she was getting bored out of her
mind sitting down at the bottom of the loch with nothing

 to do except talk to the fish. She scratched her ear again,
yawned, stretched, and started swimming slowly up
towards the light.
Five minutes later, the Monster reached the surface, stuck
her head and fifteen metres of neck out of the water, and
looked around. She closed her eyes and opened them again.
It was a little difficult to understand what was happening.
Scotland was generally a fairly quiet place, but today a lot
of things seemed to be going on.
On the bank of the loch, two women were fighting. A man
was trying to stop them; another man was trying to learn
to swim. The road was full of cars with pretty blue lights
on top, coming from all directions. A helicopter landed on
the bank of the loch an some soldiers got out and lay down.
There was a bus driving along very slowly with the driver
looking out of the window. The bus driver caught sight of
the Monster and drove into the loch. The two women stopped
fighting and stood with their mouths open. All the police cars
crashed into each other. A sports car stopped and a woman
got out and started taking photographs.
It was all too much. The Monster closed her eyes and went
back down to the bottom of the loch.
In her black Porsche, Dr. Wagner was getting a little inpatient.
She was in a hurry to get to her hotel in Inverness and have
a bath and a rest, after driving overnight from London.
But for the last fifteen miles she had been stuck behind a bus
that was driving very slowly in the middle of the road, and it
seemed impossible to get past. Calm down, Mary, she said
to herself. Youve got plenty of time.
She started thinking about the holiday that was just starting.
Every year, she drove up the Scottish Highlands and spent
two weeks looking for the Loch Ness Monster.
Dr. Wagner was a member of the West London Society
for the Investigation of Strange and Unexplained Phenomena,
and she was very interested in monsters, ghosts, flying saucers
and things of that kind. She had never yet seen anything in
Loch Ness, but she always had a wonderful holiday and went
back home feeling happy and relaxed. She had a feeling about
this year, though. This year was going to be special.
Somehow, she just knew.

En el agua, la magia es maravillosamente simple.
En una molcula de agua, dos tomos de hidrgeno
se unen a un tomo de oxgeno, el elemento ms
abundante en la corteza planetaria. Los dos tomos
de hidrgeno y el tomo de oxgeno forman una
molcula en forma de V, produciendo una asimetra
elctrica. Una molcula de agua es bipolar. Tiene
una ligera carga positiva en el extremo del hidrgeno
y una ligera carga negativa en el extremo del oxgeno.
De esta bipolaridad depende en gran parte el
comportamiento del ocano.
La bipolaridad de las molculas de agua las enlaza
unas con otras. La carga positiva en el extremo del
hidrgeno de una molcula atrae a la negativa en el
extremo del oxgeno de otra. Esta atraccin es lo
que mantiene unidos a los mares.
En el lmite aire-agua el enlace de hidrgeno crea la
tensin superficial. sta forma una piel que permite
a los objetos ms pesados que el agua flotar sobre ella.
El enlace de hidrgeno influye sobre la viscosidad del
agua. La viscosidad es una medida de la fuerza necesaria
para separar las molculas de un lquido y permitir el
paso a travs de l. La viscosidad, simultneamente,
hace flotar a las criaturas del mar y entorpece su
desplazamiento.
A diferencia de los pequeos animales planctnicos, que
deben simplemente mantener su posicin a cierta
profundidad, las criaturas grandes y mviles cuya misin
es desplazarse deben luchar contra la viscosidad y la
densidad del agua. Las diversas formas de los peces son
otras tantas soluciones a los problemas de viscosidad,
densidad y resistencia al avance. El corte de las aletas
sirve en gran parte para romper el enlace de hidrgeno.

 La capacidad calorfica del agua es alta gracias al enlace
de hidrgeno. Se requieren grandes cantidades de
energa para vencerlo y convertir el agua en gas.
Esta capacidad calorfica convierte a los mares en el
ms importante moderador del clima de la Tierra.
La caracterstica ms singular del agua tal vez sea
su relacin temperatura-densidad. La mayora de los
lquidos se hacen ms densos cuando se enfran.
Para el agua dulce esto es as hasta unos 4C, punto
en que la tendencia se invierte y el agua se hace
menos densa. Cuando el agua dulce se enfra a esta
temperatura, la magia del enlace de hidrgeno crea
molculas de agua en forma de cristales hexadricos,
que ocupan ms espacio que las molculas de agua
lquida. Con menos molculas en un volumen dado,
el agua slida es menos densa que el agua lquida y
flota en ella: el hielo en formacin asciende.

Los caracoles marinos estn viviendo un drama evolutivo;
son animales de transicin, criaturas marinas en trance
de convertirse en terrestres. Los grados de esta
transformacin son perceptibles en los caracoles de
distintos lugares. En las tres especies de Nueva Inglaterra,
por ejemplo, los caracoles marinos lisos, que habitan en la
franja inferior de la zona intermareal, slo pueden vivir
muy poco tiempo fuera del agua. El caracol marino comn,
que ocupa la franja intermedia, pasa ms tiempo en la roca
seca que dentro del agua, pero todava pone los huevos en
el mar. El caracol marino spero, que puebla la franja
superior, es vivparo y posee una cavidad branquial que
acta casi como un pulmn. Mientras que los caracoles de
la franja inferior excretan residuos metablicos en forma
de urea, el caracol marino spero excreta cido rico, que

 es insoluble y ahorra agua en la evacuacin de los residuos.
Da la impresin de que este caracol podra abandonar en
cualquier momento el medio marino e instalarse tierra adentro.
En las tres franjas intermareales se forman charcas de marea.
Por debajo de las ltimas charcas de marea infralitorales,
en los fondos rocosos de muchas costas templadas,
crecen inmensos bosques submarinos de quelpos, macroalgas
que son como los pinos gigantes del mar. Junto a las costas
de Amrica del Sur baadas por el Pacfico, los tallos o
estpites de los quelpos miden sesenta metros desde los
zarcillos, aferrados a las costas del fondo del mar, hasta las
frondas, que alcanzan la superficie. Los bosques de quelpos
pueden ser ms ricos en especies vegetales y animales que
las selvas lluviosas tropicales.
A medida que nos adentramos en el mar, el fondo va
descendiendo hasta la gran llanura de la plataforma
continental, cuyo substrato est cubierto de arena y fango.
Es la zona marina donde se localizan los ms importantes
calderos de gambas, langostas, cangrejos, almejas, abadejos,
sardinas, peces de roca y peces de fondo.
Los sedimentos de la plataforma estn habitados por una
infauna de excavadores, como gusanos poliquetos, almejas
y crustceos que abren tneles, y por una epifauna de
anmonas, ofiuras, erizos de mar, estrellas de mar, crustceos
ambulantes y otras criaturas adaptadas a la vida en la
superficie de los sedimentos del fondo. Los nutrientes llegan
a la plataforma por dos conductos distintos: las aguas de
lluvia procedentes de la tierra y las corrientes de afloramiento
de los bordes continentales; y propician la riqueza de plancton,
que pulula en el agua, efecta la fotosntesis en la capa superior
de la plataforma, las diatomeas, que crecen en los sedimentos
limosos del fondo, la realizan en la inferior.
Los detritos orgnicos procedentes de zonas litorales, en
especial los aportados por las corrientes descendentes de las
marismas salinas, de los bosques submarinos de quelpos, que
crecen en los fondos rocosos submareales y de las plantas
marinas, son cosechados por los organismos filtradores, que
absorben del agua, y por los detritvoros, que los extraen del
fango.
