Architecture can Trigger an Emotional

Response: A Design Process that Leads

to Healthcare Environments that Comfort

September 2013
Rational Emotional

The actions of the mind and body are intrinsically related;

both shape our understanding of reality. An apt analogy is
that of a magnetic field in which one pole represents the part
of the mind which deals with cognitive and rational issues
and the other pole represents the part of the mind which
deals with non-cognitive, unconscious issues that are part of
the both the mind and the body. These poles cannot be
separated as they form one unit.
