Spring 2017
FORTHCOMING EVENTS
CWMBYR
Nigel proposes the following dates for work on the site during the summer and
autumn:
1415 June; 1617 July; 1617 September; 78 October.
For confirmation or alterations, see the website. Other workplaces are available:
CWM RHEIDOL
The slate roof of the Caecynon powder magazine has now been restored: the external
and internal woodwork awaits attention. Conservation work on the Cwm Rheidol
orebins will be the next task. Precise dates for operations cannot yet be given, but Ioan
Lord (rheilffordd@gmail.com) will supply the latest information.
LLYWERNOG
Refurbishment of the museum is almost complete: repair of the waterwheels is about
to begin, with the prospect of getting one of the jiggers into operation by the autumn,
followed by reinstatement of the tramway to the shaft. Again, Ioan can provide details.
HERITAGE WEEKEND(S)
After the success of last years Rheidol visit, one or more field
weekends are under consideration for later this year.
Information will appear on the website when arrangements are
completed.
PUBLICATIONS
The next Newsletter (long overdue, but, we hope, worth waiting for) will be posted on
the website shortly, together with another item, even longer overdue, but perhaps even
more worth waiting for.
SUBSCRIPTIONS
Are now requested: a form appears on the next sheet. Please give generously: we are
very grateful to our members, without whose contributions the work of the Trust
(some examples of which are shown overleaf) could not be carried on.
