Introduction/Engagement:
The teacher will begin her lesson by asking the students what they believe should
be written in a peace agreement. The teacher will remind the students to think
of what they have learned in the previous lessons and connect it with the end of
World War I. By having the students brainstorm their own opinions they will be
able to make a better connection for future class discussions about Wilsons
Fourteen Points and the Treaty of Versailles.
1. The students will work independently to come up with their own points they
believe should be included in a peace agreement. The teacher will ask them a
variety of questions on their ideas they came up with.
2. The teacher will then lead a discussion about the end of World War One by
using the Smart Board, the teacher will discuss with the students how the war
ended and what terms were arranged. The teacher will build a foundation of
Wilsons Fourteen Points, and the Treaty of Versailles for the future lessons.
The teacher and students will then play a Tic Tac toe question game to help
further their understanding of Wilsons 14 points.
3. The teacher will then present the students with the essay question they
must answer. By making the students write an in-class essay allow the students to
regroup the information and make sure they understood. The students will have
the rest of the class period to write a formal response to the question.
4. The students will then be presented with the essay question and will have
the rest of period to write a formal essay with detail and evidence from the
previous lessons.
