II. Subject/Skill:
Mathematics: Multiplying two-digit numbers by a single digit number.
III. Objective(s)
In teams of 4 or 5, students will correctly solve multiplication problems, in
which a two-digit number is multiplied by a single digit number.
V. Materials
Small, individual white boards (1 per team/table)
Dry erase markers (1 per team/table)
Whiteboard erasers (1 per team/table)
Fill in multiplication practice worksheet (1 per student)
VI. Grouping Structures
VII. Students will work in groups of 4-5 with the students that are sitting at their
tables.
VIII. Modifications
Multiplication problems will be read aloud in addition to being written on the
board in large font for ELL students and the student with dyslexia. Give
plenty of time for all students to solve the problems.
IX. Assessment
Assessing student progress/culminating or closing activity: Review prior
material (single digit multiplication) and new material (multiplying two digits
by one digit) at the end of the lesson. Ask a few more sample questions for
students to answer aloud. Allow time for questions. Tell students about the
next math lesson and its connection to this one. Next week we will be
learning how to multiply 2 two-digit numbers. Tell the students that their
graded worksheets will be given back to them so they can ask questions and
review as a class.
Distributed Practice and Review: Students will complete the fill in
multiplication worksheet for practice at home. It will be returned for grading
the following day.
