BROAD EXPECTATIONS
Grades for recital performances are informed by broad expectations for each year level.
Broad expectations Year 1: Foundational Broad expectations Year 2: Advanced Broad expectations Year 3: Artistry
As a guide: NN Does not meet all expectations PA to DI Meets expectations (to varying degrees) HD Meets/exceeds all expectations
ASSESSMENT HURDLE
Recitals are subject to the following assessment hurdle: Recital meets the required length
Assessors may stop your recital if it runs more than 10% over your allotted time. If you do not meet the required length it may be determined by the Moderation Panel that you will either fail outright, or be asked to
perform supplementary material whereby you may only obtain a maximum of 50% for your recital.
SET UP
It is a tight schedule, and so you and your accompanists are encouraged to arrive early on the day, and to pack up immediately after your assessment. If you have a large ensemble, or an unusual line-up, you need
to provide a stage plan to the Audio Engineers (if at Elgar Auditorium) 60 minutes prior to your performance so that they can prepare to give you the best sound possible.
SWAPPING TIMES
It is your responsibility to be ready to perform with your accompanists at the scheduled time. Failure to do so may result in a fail. You may request to swap times with another student, however any request to change
times should only be made if absolutely necessary, as a number of people (including your own accompanists) may be affected. If you need to make a swap then please do the following:
1. Confirm a time swap with a student from the same year, instrument group, and teacher if possible (otherwise you may be assessed by your own teacher, which is not ideal)
2. Contact Carolyn Ellis (c.ellis@boxhill.edu.au) with a solution so that the schedule may be updated
Good luck!!
