TUTORING ACTIVITY PLAN for

Tara McAndrews

Tutoring Time: 1 hours

Math Objectives (for St. Agnes student):


Tara will be able to identify the sum and difference
Tara will create A masterpiece using math properties of addition and subtraction
Tara will create math a math puzzle with a number of number sentences for one solution using
addition and subtraction

Describe the activity in each section and indicate high/low technology being used for each part of
the activity:

Warm-up (2 min) 1. Addition/Subtraction War


2. Tara and tutors will face off in an intense game of war. After
shuffling the cards, Tara will deal out the cards. Each player will be
distributed an even amount of cards. The players will then have an
understanding of the value of each card. After dealing evenly, the
game will begin. The rules of the game are pretty much like the card
game War (all players flip over a card at the same time), but instead
of the player with highest card winning, the first player to say the
sum/difference of the two cards aloud wins the two cards.
3. The first to accumulate all of the cards is the winner.

Pre-Test (5 min) Tara will complete in a Quizziz game that will be centered on
addition and subtraction number sentences.

Review of Prior Tara will then work on a four problem worksheet that focuses

Home Task (2 min) After the post test, Tara will be given a total of 18 puzzle
pieces. The puzzle pieces will then be split into two groups of

solution(one displaying the sum and the other displaying the
difference).. Tara will have to come up with 8 number
sentences that add up to the sum. The Tara will come up

Tara will solve the Mystery puzzle centered on addition and subtraction number sentences using
double digits
Tara will create math a math flashcards using addition and subtraction double digit sentences

Describe the activity in each section and indicate high/low technology being used for each part of
the activity:

Warm-up (2 min) 4. Tara and tutors will each take turns rolling the life-size box. Each
side of the box will have familiar images from the show soul eater as
well as 4 different choices to choose from. Tara will then roll the box
and wait for it to land on a category. After it lands, Tara will then
search out the four bags (each one labeled in accordance with the
categories on the box) and find the correct category choice. She will
follow the direction listed on the sheet.

Using ELA activities to understand the four sentence types
Tara will use Kahoot to test prior knowledge of the four types of sentences
Tara will display understanding of the four sentence types using Floor mat activity

Describe the activity in each section and indicate high/low technology being used for each part of the activity:

Warm-up (2 min) Warm-Up: Tara will play a game like Red Light, Green Light to identify
the correct sentence type. Tara will stand at one end of the hall with one
tutor while the other tutor will stand on the opposite end. The tutor not
standing with Tara will hold up and read a sentence. Tara and the tutor
standing with her will compete to shout out the correct answer first.
Whoever yells out the correct answer first will take one step forward. The
game will end when someone reaches the tutor calling out the correct
sentences and tags her. The winner will switch places with the tutor who
was calling out the questions and act as this role for the next round. The
tutors and Tara will play two rounds of this game.

adding double and single digits. The cards should showcase
Taras personality and the tutors should encourage her
creativity. Tara will return the cards the next session.
