Objective
Equipment
required:
Students
will:

balls

techniques
for

throwing
o Tape

to
implement

practice
accurate
throwing
in
a
fun
and
new
way
Warm
up
(3-5
minutes)
Students
will:
1. Run
2
laps
around
the
gym
2. Follow
the
teacher
in
an
upper
body
warm
up
including:
a. 20
jumping
jacks
b. Arm
swings
(forwards
and
backwards)
c. Arm
stretches
Instruction
(5
minutes)
Teacher
will
instruct
the
students
on
proper
throwing
form
using
verbal
and
visual
cues
(explain
process
verbally
while
demonstrating,
getting
students
to
mimic
actions
WITHOUT
ball)

Set
up:
o Dodgeballs
ready
for
use
o 2
hula
hoops
taped
to
the
wall
at
approximately
students
waist
height
Activity:
1. Students
will
be
instructed
to
find
partners
and
be
given
1
dodge
ball
per
pair
of
students.
2. Using
gym
lines,
students
will
be
instructed
to
practice
throwing,
using
both
proper
techniques
(underhand
throw
is
to
be
rolled
along
the
floor)
(2
minutes)
3. Then
students
will
be
divided
up
into
equal
teams,
given
pinnies
and
lined
up
an
equal
distance
from
the
hula
hoops
taped
to
the
wall
4. A
relay
race
where
students
will
throw
at
the
hula-hoop
from
the
line
using
an
overhand
throw.
If
the
student
hits
the
wall
inside
the
hula-hoop,
they
will
retrieve
the
ball,
pass
it
to
the
next
student
in
line,
and
sit
down
to
the
side
and
cheer
their
teammates
on.
If
they
do
not
hit,
they
will
retrieve
their
own
ball
and
continue
trying
until
they
hit
inside
the
hula-hoop.
5. Both
teams
must
continue
until
all
students
have
thrown

obvious
line
in
the
court
o Dodge
balls
lined
up
along
the
middle
of
the
court

divided
into

teams
(same
as
relay
teams)

Activity:
o Basic
dodge
ball
rules
are
to
be
followed
o 2
teams
o Students
must
remain
on
their
side
of
the
centre
line.
o Balls
are
thrown
at
the
other
team,
if
you
are
hit
by
a
live
ball
(hasnt
hit
any
surface
of
the
gym)
then
you
are
out.
o Hits
must
be
neck
down.
If
a
student
hits
another
student
in
the
head,
then
the
student
who
threw
the
ball
is
out.
o If
a
live
ball
is
caught,
whoever
threw
the
ball
is
out.
o Students
start
at
the
back
line
and
have
to
wait
until
the
teacher
yells
Go!
to
run
and
start
throwing
balls
o The
goal
of
the
game
is
to
knock
down
the
opposite
teams

o Once
a
student
is
out,
they
will
move
to
the
side
of
the
courts.
They
are
given
the
opportunity
to
re-enter
the
game
by
performing
either

push-ups
or
5
burpees
o Students
are
allowed
to
guard
pins,
but
pins
will
be
behind
a
specified
line
that
the
students
can
only
cross
to
retrieve
balls.
o Game
is
over
once
one
team
as
successfully
knocked
over
all
5
of
the
other
teams
bowling
pins
o Game
can
be
played
multiple
times,
if
time
allows
Take
Home
Knowledge:
Students
will
have
learned
the
appropriate
throw
technique
for
their
age,
and
this
will
aid
in
the
development
of
their
physical
literacy
of
throwing.
The
game
will
show
them
that
throwing
is
involved
in
many
different
types
of
activities
and
sports.
