Imbong vs Ochoa

G.R. 204819 April 8, 2014

Facts:
On December 21, 2012 the Congress enacted the Republic Act No. 10354 otherwise
known as the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012. A law,
which guarantees universal access to methods on contraception, fertility control,
sexual education, and maternal care. Shortly after the President placed his
imprimatur on the said law challengers from various sectors of society beckoning it
to wield the sword that strikes down constitutional disobedience.

Issue: Whether or not the 1987 constitution embraces all kinds of religious beliefs
and all types of believers including non- believers?

Ruling:
Yes, in the ruling of Imbong vs. Ochoa, it states that history has shown that our
government has allowed these various religious, cultural, social and racial groups to
thrive in a single society and has been tolerant towards all the religious people of
different sect and the non-believers alike. Thus, it denotes that the State recognizes
with respect the influence of religion insofar as it instills into the mind the pure
principles of morality.
