Happy Super Mothers Day message from
Summer Rabena
It is truly amazing
how one could actually believe
in something without even
seeing it. Many of us believe in
superheroes even though we
know that their stories are
only based on fiction books
and comics. Many of us believe
that there is someone out
there who could serve as our
guardian and our protector
against danger and harm. We
picture them wearing a coat,
having awesome gadgets,
fighting criminals, and the
like. We have that dream in-
side our young hearts to see
them in action, to see them in
real life. But then again, su-
perheroes do not necessarily
have to wear costumes, have
awesome gadgets, fight and
defeat monsters and criminals
for the people to notice their
super powers rather, whats
important is that they show
their concern, love and care
for the persons who are very
dear to them. They willingly
sacrifice their own lives for
the sake of those who are
very important to them.
I consider my mom
as a superhero because she
takes good care of me and she
guides and protects me all the
time. She has made lots of
sacrifices for me and she
shows her concern and her
love through the little things
that she does for me. The
simple things like giving ad-
vices to certain situations and
the constantly giving of re-
minders on what to do and
what not to do are examples

and her love for me. But my
relationship with my mom isnt
always rainbows and butter-
flies. If I were to describe it
in a word or two, it is very
much similar to a rollercoaster
ride. We have had our own ups
and downs throughout the

misunderstandings and we also

 Roadshow General Assemblies for May 2014
During the May AHAI Offi-
cers meeting, the idea of holding
roadshow style general assemblies
was presented. This is intended to
be only for the May GA as a way of
meeting more of the homeowners,
residents and non-residents, at
their place of work instead of ask-
ing them to meet on a weekend dur-
ing the summer which might be the
only time for families to go out dur-
ing the summer, especially since the
kids are out of school.

It was a dark night when we
started pitching our tents. It took
5 people to pitch AJs tent. It also
took that many people to pitch Har-
veys tent. Our first activity was
roasting marshmallows. Then we
made a bonfire where we cooked
our hotdogs.

Our Ateneoville Sportsfest is
made up of 2 games, kids basketball and
kids soccer. The basketball game is a
best-of-3 series while the soccer game
is only 1 game and 1 penalty shootout.

the Ateneoville Homeowners Association, Inc. We are a
community of professionals inspired by the vision of St. Ig-
natius of Loyola...to give and not to count the cost...to fight

Songs and Family: Getting to Know Ateneoville Choir

Ateneoville practices the
Atenean culture of spirituality and
faithfulness in various ways. The
Ateneoville choir, for one, provides
an avenue for us to practice our
faith through song. The choir is
composed of different residents
from our village who voluntarily take
the time to practice songs and
serve in masses. But, this choir is
not just a group of people singing
and playing instruments for God. It
has also become a family.
The choir started out in
February 2007 with its first few
members composing, of mostly
adults of the neighbourhood such as
Tito Gabby Mallillin, Tito Leo Ber-
nardino, Tito Paul Cabacungan, Tita
Dena Culaba, Tita Meng de Guia, to
name a few. They would practice in
the SLI on weekend nights in prepa-
ration for their duty on Sundays.
Then, younger people were re-
cruited to the choir and currently,
most of the members are composed
of them. Eventually, we also ac-
cepted members who do not reside
in the village but we considered to
be friends of the community. The
Ateneoville choir is part of the Sa-
cred Music Ministry together with
other choirs of the San Isidro Lab-
rador Parish. Most of the songs we
sing are songs that the Ateneo com-
munity would be familiar with. We
sing these during English masses at
9:00am and Filipino masses at
7:15pm depending on the timeslot
assigned to us.
Aside from singing songs for
masses, the choir also found time to
bond with each other through vari-
ous activities. During summer
breaks, we go on overnight outings
in resorts. We celebrate each
others birthdays and other special
occasions by eating pizza together.
One Christmas, we did carolling in
the village to raise funds for our
sound system. We also did a concert
together with the whole Music Min-
istry which allowed us to bond with
members of other choirs. While
these activities did allow us to get
to know each other well, the happi-
est moments, for me, are the ones
we have during practices where we
are able to spend time with one an-
other and catch up with what is
happening with each others lives.
We also want other people
to have this experience with us. If
interested; you can join one of our
practices scheduled every Friday or
Saturday nights, 7:30 p.m. at the
SLI. We do not require any aptitude
in music; all we need is passion and
commitment for serving God.
