Learning Objectives 1. The first grade students will know how communication will
affect how others treat/talk back to them, so when given the
worksheet the students will have no errors.
3. The first grade students will be able to use words and phrases
acquired through conversations, reading and read to, so when
assessed by teacher they will do so with 90% accuracy.
Student Activities & I do:
Procedures
The teacher will start the lesson by reviewing what they learned
the previous day.
Yesterday we learned that good citizens are everyday
people that help in their community and they do so in
many different ways. They help by following the rules,
helping the elderly cross the street, picking up trash,
getting to school on time
Then the teacher will explain students that today they are going to
learn about how their choices affect the way they are seen.
The choices we make, has an effect on how people sees us
and respond to us. If we are not communicating in a nice
way, we will probably not receive a good response. That
is why it is important for us to think what we are going to
do before doing so. Sometimes things as simple as
listening to other, made them change their opinions about
us.
We do:
The teacher will read the book Wigglebottom Learns to Listen.
explain how being a good listener is a form of communication.
As the teacher reads few pages, the teacher will ask students to
turn and talk to their shoulder partner about any questions they
might have about what has already been read. Then they will
share it with the class. Teacher will be monitoring students
responses.
The whole class will play the games Webonauts in their laptops
about an astronaut that goes to an academy to learn about
observation, respect, and contribution. While playing the game,
students will be presented with situations in which they need to
pick the best way to solve the conflict.
You do: Students will cut, color and paste certificates in their
journal. This activity will also work with ESOL, ESE as well as
with Gifted

Lesson Extensions For homework have the student brainstorm what they would like
to be when they grow up bring their ideas for discussion
tomorrow.
