One Group in One World

Nadine Gordimers, the author of Once Upon a Time, once stated ...were living happy ever

after (Gordimer 2). A happy ever after is when youre satisfied with your life and it lasts till your

death ,take the princesses for example normally the storys end with they all lived happily ever after.

The human race can have a happy ever after if everyone in the whole entire world were able to find

common ground and try to accept others the way they are. Some people think that the human race

cannot live together in one group, not all in segregated groups of one race. It has been said that

individuals cant do that task because (things like religious or sexual preference, and racial or age bias

are huge influences) we cant find common ground because white people are more loved and rich than

blacks. The news has reported of a new protest of Blacks Lives Matter and people think that African

Americans aren't treated as well as whites. A topic of debate has been the difference between whites

and black for a really long time. Individuals can find common ground as shown in Making the Future

Better, Together,Once Upon a Time and A Quilt of a Country also in the film A Raisin in the Sun.

People can live together in one world, if humans are able to try a little harder to not judge

people and instead treat each other equally. It will be a difficult task but nothing's impossible. In the

short story, Once Upon a Time the author Nadine Gordimer explains The wife could never see

anyone go hungry...this was their chance(Gordimer 4). In the example, the viewers learn that there are

people who try to make a difference and/or want to change this world for the better. A conclusion that
Reichenbach 2

could be drawn is the wife wants to help people not to be hungry or not be in need for a home. Another

reason and source is that the world can be one group, is found in A Quilt of a Country by Anna

Quindlen. This is demonstrated when she states when the photographs of the faces of all those who

died in the 9/11...it will be possible to trace in the skin color, the shape of the eyes and the noses,

texture of the hair, a map of the world (Quindlen 4). This means that they have pasted so they are not

going to be judged now but when they were alive they were judged on their appearance. The are just a

piece of the devastating past. What is understood here is that the people realise that they are dead now

and all the people who judged or bullied them should feel bad but they probably didn't feel bad when

the people were alive but felt sad or depressed because they are different . Being one group is possible

but hard to accomplish.

Society shows the individuals of the world can live as one human race together.

In the play A Raisin in the Sun the piece describes the fact that family is important and are there for

eachother also that back in the old times blacks were mistreated and not as rich as white people

(hansberry 12). By looking at the play the audience can infer that this play is mostly about the

segregation topics, money and family. A interpretation that can be drawn is this family is neither poor

to the point of no food or no house but not rich. With the little money they have they are still living

fine but none of them like there job, Walter is a chauffeur ,Mama and Ruth are maids. They all have

dreams though, Walter wants to be a businessman and own a liquor store and Walter's sister Beneatha

want to be a doctor. Additionally, the play suggests the opinion that people can live as one group

because in the end of the play the problem of dreams and segregation, money are all solved. This is

shown when Walter and Beneatha are arguing about the topic of money needed for beneatha's

schooling in college to become a doctor (hansberry 26). This explains to the audience that money is a

problem towards Walter but Beneatha is a strong independent girl who wants to be a girl doctor even
Reichenbach 3

though all doctors are guys in this time period. This passage represents the relationship between Walter

and Beneatha because even though they dont have the same mindset on some topics so they end up

butting heads and then they fight. As a result, there are problems in this world doesn't mean we can't

have friends or acquaintances of different groups of race or religion. People can have dreams to be

something crazy and still be able achieve them in the time they have on earth. Beneatha is trying to

make a life changing dream happen even though others disagree.

Common ground can have a huge impact on the people of this world because common ground

is a way of becoming acquaintances or even friends. If individuals are friends it will make it easier to

do good .It's clear that it's possible to be one group in one world. The point remains that the world can

be peaceful and amazing!
