Project Description
A Chemistry and/or Physics Instructor with at least 2 years of practical teaching experience
and Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Physics is needed to teach courses for the Phebe
Paramedical Training Program. This training program is the oldest nursing school in the
country and Phebe is working with the Liberian Ministry of Health (MOH) to reach mandates
under the Health Workforce Program (HWP) to increase enrollment and upgrade space and
infrastructure. A Peace Corps Response Volunteer is needed because these courses are only
offered one semester of the year and the previous part-time instructor is no longer available.
The Chemistry and/or Physics Instructor will teach one (or both, if qualified) of the courses and
help students understand and apply the importance of these subjects to their disciplines and
to society as a whole. The Response Volunteer will apply effective teaching methods for
students comprehension, demonstrate higher student achievement scores in applicable
content areas, and effectively ensure student demonstration and application of acquired
knowledge and skills. He/she must also submit a detailed end of assignment report outlining
successes, challenges, and recommendations.
Please note; these are approximate departure dates and might change.
